Ford Prefect

My favorite character in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Ford Prefect.

Fjord Prefect.

Anyway.

But in Terry's particular example, the other characters do do things.

Ford Prefect, Zaphod Beeblebrox, they're doing stuff.

So Arthur's allowed to just be pushed along by the plots and everything else because, again, everybody else is driving the action, right? All the narrator has to do at that point, if the narrator is the emcee, is talking about the stuff they see around them.

And people, in Matt's case of what he's talking about, I assume the engineer or whatever is going just stark raving bonkers, doesn't understand the problem or doesn't know how to fix the problem, can't verbalize how to fix the problem.

There's another android in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy who is the anti-Marvin, who is irrepressibly cheerful.

I think Ford Prefect ends up killing because he's so annoying.

Called Colin, the cheerful android.

So, yeah, this is Marvin.

Oh.

And that, unlike Ford Prefect, she was actually from Guilford after all.

She did a shedload of interviews as herself putting on the accent, so we just assumed it was her normal voice.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to, to the Galaxy itself is portrayed in that book as being kind of a bureaucracy, a- although a shambolic one, in the sense that, you know, Ford Prefect gets to Earth, sent to Earth for, like, lots of years, uh, in order to update-

Oh, yeah, but now I'm down into the writing section where I'm not liking things as well.

Like the idea of Ford Prefect.

Why is Ford Prefect's name funny? It just isn't funny anymore.

It's a cultural reference to a car that was out in the 1960s or 70s.

And nobody knows what a Ford Prefect is anymore.

The most famous Ford Prefect.
