Ford Model T

He drove with his wife.

They bought an old Model T secondhand Ford in Hong Kong and drove to Guilin.

Took a couple days to drive there.

And on the way there, they never had driven before there.

And so people would just wake up and be like, who's here? But nobody would be there.

It would just be echoes of Model T Fords and kind of stuff.

Oh, wow.

And yeah, so the

It doesn't have all the nice, shiny, you know, fun.

You know, you could drive a Model T, right? But you're not going to get, you know, power windows.

You don't have car play.

if you wanted to.

But, you know, and, you know, air conditioning, you could forget it.

I mean, the Model T would barely move.

Roll the window down.

He's got this little girl, six or seven years old, and they're in this old car.

It's a 1915 Ford Model T.

And he's driving down this road, this dirt road, way too fast.

No seatbelts, no nothing.

It doesn't have all the nice, shiny, you know, fun.

You know, you could drive a Model T, right? But you're not going to get, you know, power windows.

You don't have car play.

You don't have car play, right? And you're definitely not going to get a cup holder.

But,

you know, and, you know, air conditioning, you could forget it.

So we do know that he got sick of traveling on the motorcycle sidecar after roughly 12 months.

And that's where his story really starts to pick up as both a cultural journalist and a man very invested in technology because he proceeded to then take a Model T Ford and break it down and made a whole caravan from packing cases, a Model T Ford chassis, and that's how he continued his journeys for the next few years, towed by a little Austin 7, and he built his own darkroom in that caravan as well.

And he created his own photographic mug using a headlamp from a car and his own cage, wafting his photographic prints in local streams.

A very inventive.
