Ford Falcon (XB)

Can I hark back to a car that I bought at the car yard when I was 18 when Dad and I had the car yard together at Bakery Hill? And this will be of interest too to Scotty.

But it was a burnt orange XB GT sedan.

Mm-hmm.

And the paint was rooted.

I remember being strapped in.

No baby seats back then.

I remember being strapped into the back of our XBGT.

Yep.

See that? That's an old XB Falcon coupe.

I'm a Ford guy.

I used to go to Bay Park Speedway when it was down here.

... and, um, 'cause I, I, I bought a, um, Falcon, and I thought about what year it was.

It was a 1975 XB Falcon.

Right.

And it, it would've been...

Yeah.

So they must've, must've blown the other one up.

'Cause my dad had an XB Falcon.

Right.

Now lastly, when we had you on the podcast back in 2023, '24, your dream garage was a Ford Falcon XB GT 351-powered V8, burnt orange in color, a Ford GT40, and a genuine Shelby AC Cobra.

With the win on the weekend, if you were to add an extra car into the dream garage, would that be the Mustang that you drove to win the Great Race? Or would you have to go dibs in with Brodie and actually share the ownership of the car if you were allowed to? [laughs]

The, the, the Falcon XA, XB, and XC are a copy of the Ford Torino 1970 model.

Oh, they're a bit smaller.

And so living in Perth, I bought an XB Falcon.

In Perth at the time, which is like probably 1993, you didn't need a roadworthy to buy a car.

So you didn't need a roadworthy in New South Wales.
