Follicular unit transplantation

Well, in a nutshell, it sounds like 14 years ago, the FUE procedure that you alluded to, which is what I do exclusively, is the follicular unit extraction, where we're able to extract individual follicular units one by one.

Prior to that, the method of choice was FUT, or follicular unit transplantation, which involves taking a strip from the back of the scalp and then sewing that back together and then harvesting follicles from that piece of meat, if you will.

So now, you know, the patient is laying in the equivalent of a massage table, you know, with a little donut hole, and we're able to just literally drill and punch individual follicles.

And we've done, you know, we've done not only scalp sources, but also extra scalp sources like beard and chest and things like that.

But he also has one of those very, very unique physiologies in the sense that he's one of those guys where we started with strip with FUT on him.

And he is just like the gift that keeps on giving.

His laxity like never seems to change.

And you want to make sure the patient is aware of how many they may need to do.

That patient in particular is definitely, you know, he's, he's well outside of the normal bell curve there.

I would say that for the average patient, if you just take a normal guy, younger guy, Caucasian patient, just thinking in terms of the average donor supply and things like that, what I usually tell them is if we're looking to absolutely maximize the donor, we do believe that we can get out more grafts doing FUT followed by FUE.

I think there's a lot of people kind of challenging that narrative.
