Florida State–Miami football rivalry

Now, guys back in the day, when it was a steady number, they'd know when you, what your, what was going on with the Gator when they were on the schedule consistently.

But Miami Florida State, and, and you gotta go back really, I think it's always been a great game.

But Coach Schnellenberger and Coach Bowden made the decision in, in the early '80s, late '70s, that, that they were going to make this game a national game.

It's not the, a game for the state of Florida.

I, I just don't know that it's here right now.

Yeah, I, I'm with you on that.

And then, you know, another, uh, top 10 matchup is gonna be going head-to-head with Miami Florida State, but I know Miami fans are gonna be keeping an eye on Notre Dame, who they face later this year.

Number two Notre Dame goes out to Provo to take on number eight BYU, which is gonna be Notre Dame's, like, first real true test of the year.

Uh, I wanna ask you guys this though, because we were having this conversation earlier in the week, and as far as rivalries go, a lot of the rivalries of, you know, the early 2000s or the '90s, they, they've kind of gone away, right? And I don't know, maybe just 'cause the Dolphins haven't been good for a while, the Heat with the Heat, you know, the Knicks were bad for so long.

What is the best rivalry you think we have going? Outside of Miami Florida State, because we know that's one of the best rivalries in all of sports.

But what rivalry do you guys still think, uh, survives down here in South Florida? Like, for me, it was Heat and Celtics.

That one's at seven thirty.

So you know, I'll, I'll be eyeing that game while we're at Miami Florida State.

But I, I think that's gonna give us a, a good idea of just how great Notre Dame is, 'cause that, that's a huge top ten matchup.

So in my memory it is something.

You know, it's just like n- n- very rarely over the last 20 years has it felt like it was a competitive, even matchup, you know? It was like you kind of knew going into the game what was gonna happen.

I do feel like in the last 20 years, Miami Florida State has been closer to a, a competitive matchup.
