But, uh, we've got a number of statewide contests that are getting closer, and I wonder what advice you have to those running for governor and United States Senate and the Florida Cabinet about how to win the voters who are regularly voting for you.

Well, I think the easy thing is to adopt a lot of the positions and, and investigate those things on which we all agree.

Everybody loves the environment here in Florida, and it's not a Republican or Democrat issue.

But to determine exactly how many people had been buried there, and who they were, Kimmerle needed permission to dig.

In August 2013, Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet finally approved her request to excavate the burial ground.

Her team could now exhume the remains and begin the painstaking process of trying to identify them, hoping to match the dead with families who had been left without answers for decades.

So the investigation continued, with Kimmerle and her team trying to identify the dead and determine what had happened to them.
