Florence

We're calling it the Fiorentino.

And if you've ever been to Florence, Italy, and had a focaccia sandwich from All'Antico Venaio or something along those lines, that was the inspiration for this burger.

And so what we've done is we're taking mortadella, we're julienning it, thinly slicing it with thinly sliced cabbage.

That's getting griddled on the flat top, dressed with a comfy shallot oil.

Everyone was back there.

What led the decision to have a destination wedding? A couple years before we got engaged, I saw a wedding in Tuscany or Florence.

It was a Diane Curie wedding.

Of course.

To each of the conspirators a part was assigned.

To one the murder, to another the seizure of the palace, while a third was to ride through the streets and call on the people to free themselves.

But it so chanced that at a time when the Pazzi, the Medici, and the Cardinal were all assembled in the cathedral church of Florence to hear high mass, it became known that Giuliano would not be present at the banquet.

Whereupon the conspirators, laying their heads together, resolved to do in church what they were to have done elsewhere.

Her heartless detention of railway porters staggering under their burdens, her brow-beating of tradespeople, cause this observer of fine susceptibilities and an acute sense of the becoming to lament the suetude of the ducking-stool.

The more general outrage, however, apparently common to the sex from Helen of Troy to Florence Nightingale, is, according to our censor, the spite of women towards each other, which mounts to an ecstasy of rudeness when woman goes a-shopping.

But our Cato the Elder does not permit man truculently to exalt himself by contrast with discourteous woman.

He expressly disclaims the declaration of the implication that man is mannerly while woman is not.

Section Twenty-Four, Robert Browning in Florence.

It is more than forty years since Margaret Fuller first gave distinction to the literary notices and reviews of the New York Tribune.

When I was doing it, you know, actually hunting around, going to different libraries.

I had to go to the German Institute in Florence or the Itati Villa outside of Florence.

to find these journals and really compare all of these scholarly articles published in peer-reviewed journals and understand that process and how rigorous it was, and then just how to evaluate information.

Which is not to say that I throw out information like you received from people who were growing grapes and citrus inside of a Roman amphitheater, because I think that is so critical in how local people have sort of woven mythology with... how they farm or harvest along with just how to interpret their surroundings.

How kind people were and how it's just an exterior.

But now I've just completely lost patience with it.

I'm like, you know what? If you don't want to put up with human beings being human beings, then go to the center of Florence, which I love.

I love Florence, but like it's not real life.

And the people still flocked to hear him as he preached in his own church of San Marco, though the Pope was hanging terrible threats over Florence if it did not renounce the pestilential schismatic and send him to Rome to be converted.

Still, as on this very morning, accepted the communion from his excommunicated hands.
