Flighty

Um, let's talk about Flighty.

Uh, this is my favorite app on my phone, period.

It's a flight tracking app.

It just, it does so much more than just that, though.

If you wanna go deep on Flighty, we did a bonus episode of the podcast in September 2025 with Flighty CEO Ryan Jones that was excellent, a ton of fun, and he kinda- Walked us through what it means to take all this data and put it in such a, a beautiful, uh, iPhone app.

Uh, basically Flighty tracks and digests every single piece of information related to your flight.

It's i- incredibly powerful, really well-designed.

There's been a wave of third-party apps that have been updated for Siri AI.

Some of the ones you know and love, Fantastical, Food Noms, Things, Werner was on the show a few weeks ago, Flighty, Bear, a lot of apps have been updated for Siri AI.

So functionality varies as far as what it can do.

I actually was able to build Siri AI into my apps, Kando and Stash.

really changes anything.

Well, so one of the examples they showcased was Flighty.

And so, like, that one I kind of get because, like, yeah, it's cool to see when your flight's taken off, but, like, what gate am I going to? Like, it doesn't always show everything that I need.

And so, like, now that it does show you a little bit more, that could be nice.

I have to review it tonight, but I've got an integration.

I've installed the, like, you know, Flighty.

Oh, yeah, yeah,

So I've got that.

It installs on macOS.

So a couple of months ago, I sat down with Claude and I was like, can we inject data into Flighty? Because they don't have an API.

It's just like a personal thing.

They did not make much of a big deal of this, which I was a little surprised about.

But now you can have up to three live activities, and they specifically cited our friends over at Flighty, which I thought was neat.

Uh, then they did a kinda overview of the new features of iOS 17, which they spoke about back in June.

Uh, there's new cases.

iPhone 18 Pro also features an upgraded dynamic island, redesigned to be smaller, more useful, and even better for seeing live information at a glance.

It can now show three live activities and help you keep track of multiple things at once, like your flight status with Flighty, navigating with maps, or simply checking your timer.

In addition to Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, iOS 27 brings more useful capabilities, such as intuitive child safety features that give parents more flexible ways to manage what kids can see, who they can talk to, and when they have access.

iOS 27 gets even better with customizable liquid glass, improvements to search in places like mail, and performance boosts, like up to 80% faster AirDrop transfers.

So tell me about some of your favorite tools in the points and miles game.

As someone who is well-versed in it, You like, I know you're a fan of SaveWise Pro, which we really have not talked about much on the podcast, and Flighty.

Those two specifically I know you use, and they're not something that we talk about much.

So tell people a little bit about those tools and, you know, any others that you use too, but those two specifically if they're not familiar with them.

If you just

like sit down once and like set all your alerts for like all your favorite stores, I find it's really helpful for that.

And then Flighty, I think, is great for, I mean, if you fly more than a few times a year, it's really great for, it gives you information about your flights cancellations and changes before the airlines do.

So if something is canceled, you can jump on those before other people are trying to rebook.

[laughs] I can't recommend Flighty enough if you're an iOS user.

No travel-related app has made a bigger difference to how I travel than that.

Live activity alerts, often find out about delays or gate changes before the official airline app tells me about it, and it keeps a nice history of all of my travels.

I'm a flight attendant, and I rely on Flighty more than my airline's own app, which is renowned for having the best app of any of the airlines.

Plus you can turn it into a widget on the lock screen, which is so convenient.

When I get in my car to go to work, I can just look at my lock screen and see which terminal or gate I'm flying out of that day, so I know which parking lot to park in.

I'm like, I have gotten so many people onto this thing.

It's called Flighty.

I'm not like paid by them at all, but Flighty.

It's really cool because it's like Flight Aware where it sends you all of your like notifications of like if it's delayed or if you're going to miss a connection or anything.

But it keeps a record of all of your flights and then it kind of gives you an annual report.
