Five Ks

I don't know

... you know, the events start Saturday with the miles and the 5Ks, which are gonna be interesting, entertaining.

And I was actually talking about this on my run this afternoon, is that it's kind of a unique opportunity, 'cause all these milers and 5K-ers that do this, it's kinda the end of their season, but they get to kinda, like, have a low stakes, fun, potential-

World championship.

So Guru Nanak, it's the, they wear like the swords and stuff.

Actually, you know, the British kid that was stabbed, the guy that had the Kapoor, his sword, they have the 5Ks, the Sikhs.

He was Sikh.

And that was in London or some, maybe not London, somewhere in England.

Um, was introduced through the work that I was doing in one of our stores, and we had a relationship supporting prior to that.

Um, but I, uh, attended one of the 5Ks, celebratory 5Ks, and that was really the, the hook that, that brought me in to wanting to learn more about the organization and wanting to being able to both personally and professionally be able to support the work, um, that, that they do across Northern Virginia.

So 10 years plus-ish, um, being, uh, connected, you know, to the organization through my work, and then I've been a member of the board of directors for just over eight years now.

So it's just a, a great organization that very much aligns with many of the different priorities that we have as an organization, um, being a family, uh, family company connecting with, with, uh, with the youth and, and of those, uh, families that are s- shopping our stores across Northern Virginia.

So you're able to, to build a connection with an overarching organization, uh, that has a, a very large impact, but still do it in a level that is right there in your neighborhoods where, where, you know, where you may live or where your employees live or, or where your, your family is.

So I think that's, that's a unique, I think, aspect of, of the work that GOTR does as well.

Um, and I think, you know, just being able to share the stories too, you know, to hear them a- at the 5Ks or, or, you know, the different e- events and things that we have, I...

In being able to share that through the organization as well with, with the folks that I talk to when I talk about why my gr- Girls on the Run is so important to us and why we've had such a long-term relationship, I think that's, that's incredibly important too.
