The Brisbane Olympics rowing and canoeing has been confirmed for the Fitzroy River in Rockhampton, but there are concerns about the current flow as well as crocodiles.

It'll be the Fitzroy River.

Now, the Fitzroy River has somewhere in the vicinity of 500 saltwater crocodiles in it, and that won't change.

They're not planning on evacuating them or evicting them to move on.

So when competitors get told, that this race is sudden death, they might sit up a little bit sharper.

Well, rowers at the 2032 Brisbane Olympics will have to dodge crocodiles and rogue currents after a contentious Fitzroy River was officially chosen to host the event.

The International Olympic Committee have deemed Rockhampton is a suitable venue following extensive analysis, but not everyone is convinced.

Yeah, many athletes are furious, concerned with what's lurking underneath, frequent flooding and complex tidal flows, all of which could make it extra difficult to compete and potentially unfair, depending what lane you're in.

They need to release it in terms of making it transparent.

So until we see it, we actually don't even know how it's been assessed.

Ten years, last ten years, Fitzroy River has had two times the course has been destroyed, five times the course couldn't be deployed.

I wouldn't take that risk with a venue like that.

It's not rated as top courses in Australia for rowing.

How good.

Plenty to talk about in the news today because it came through yesterday, the Queensland Premier saying it's locked in, this deal is done, the rowing for the Brisbane 2032 Olympics will happen in the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton.

Now, this follows quite a long lead-in to this where there's been a lot of opposition to this plan.

Now, 6,000 people earlier this year signed a petition for the venue to be changed.
