Fitz Roy

Well, that mountain that you see in the back is called Chalten.

also known as Fitz Roy.

And that is actually the mountain that is in the logo of the Patagonia, the clothing, the outdoor clothing brands.

And that place happened to be maybe it was like three, four hours away from my hometown.

Um, it didn't see a single summit.

And usually Fitz Roy, uh, El Chalten is summited by s- multiple routes in a summer season.

It only saw summits from, uh, the Super Canaleta that year, which is the easiest and most snowy, like icy route on the mountain.

Um, so it was a terrible weather year.

I wouldn't s- say that I felt that in over my head or anything, but definitely was out of my element.

Like, I remember...

So on that trip, the idea-- We wanted to do-- Initially, we wanted to break the town to town, like speed record on Fitz Roy for that trip, 'cause Colin already held it, but it just felt like we could go a lot faster and, and go via this, this different route.

And, um, but both of our IT bands weren't gonna allow that.

But for the rest of us, we continued on.

The next day, we crossed the border into Argentina and head to El Calafate, the gateway to Glacier National Park, home of the famous Fitz Roy peaks.

El Calafate sits on Lake Argentina, the third-largest lake in South America.

We'll see the famous Perito Moreno Glacier, and I thought the Grey Glacier was cool.

It has nothing on Perito Moreno.

We also hike to see the famous Fitz Roy and surrounding glacial peaks, plus some breathtaking glacial lakes and lagoons.

We'll see more flamingo butts, and bike through beech forest to check out beautiful waterfalls, all while building up my courage muscles by going downhill on a mountain bike over loose rocks.

And speaking of rocks, Argentina rocks.
