But that's only if we're taking it literally, because there aren't as many fish as there should be.

Act reckons we have become too accustomed to depleted fisheries, and instead of managing them simply to be sustainable, we should be aiming for abundance.

That's the new word, abundance.

More fish in the water and ultimately better fishing for everyone.

So, how do we put the plenty back into the plenty more fish in the sea? Act's conservation spokesperson Cameron Luxton's with me now.

What's different about what the c- what the government w- whom you're a part of, uh, are currently doing-

Marine Protection, Marine Mammal Protection Act in the States.

The Fisheries Act in, in Canada, where I'm from, has been monumental.

Uh, and I just wanna know, like, you know, it can be fr- but when progress happens, you know, what does that actually look like in this world? Like, when, when a policy comes into place, and even though, like, the high seas is probably early on in telling how that's going to be successful or even non-successful in the future, but when you, when you've been part of a negotiation that has been slow and frustrating, what does progress look like, you know, after it's been agreed upon? Like, how do we judge that? How do we evaluate that, especially in the early years?
