First Wives Club

She reached out to me.

She was working on, um, First Wives Club with Jill Scott.

So she reached out to me.

She's a producer on there, so she reached out to me like, "Oh my God, congratulations," da da da da da.

It's a creative choice.

No, because right after Empire, I did First Wives Club I played guitar on that.

I sang on that show.

In fact, Tracy Oliver was like, "Malik, bring all of it." Like, "Oh, you wanna sing? You wanna play your guitar?" Why? Because as artists, right, our job is to plus it up, right? If you have some talent, I want you to bring all of it because I want the final product to be as robust as possible, especially when the vision isn't necessarily 100% clear.
