Kurt CraigthorpeCORRESPONDENT

So you're officially a St. George resident now.
Doris MuscarellaHOST

So, uh, uh, you know, teaching children how to play golf is not only just hitting the ball, it also creates a foundation for their future.
Doris MuscarellaHOST
11:14
Um, now you were recognized as the First Tee coach.
Nancy StuartGUEST
11:18
Mm.
Doris MuscarellaHOST
11:18
Can you tell me a little bit about that?
Nancy StuartGUEST
11:20
Yeah.
Nancy StuartGUEST
11:21
It's an interesting journey that I went on with the First Tee.
Nancy StuartGUEST
11:24
Um, what's ...

Paul PugmireHOST
8:45
No, that is very true.
Paul PugmireHOST
8:47
But the thing about Austin Smotherman that I want y'all to know is that he is a First Tee kid.
Paul PugmireHOST
1:30
It is this whole week, the Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert, and we are here getting you inside the ropes.
Paul PugmireHOST
1:38
[laughs] And doing it in partnership with Utah's leading golf organizations, the Utah Golf Association, the Utah Section PGA, Fairways Media, the Utah Golf Foundation, the Utah Golf Course Superintendents Association, the Utah Junior Golf Association, and First Tee Utah.

... that like this are playing, and, you know, we'll talk about it a little bit later with some of our Utah guys that didn't help themselves this year.
Paul PugmireHOST
8:46
No, that is very true.
Paul PugmireHOST
8:48
But the thing about Austin Smotherman that I want y'all to know is that he is a First Tee kid.
Paul PugmireHOST
25:56
And then with great humility and gratitude-
Ashley DoveGUEST
26:00
Talk to us about First Tee? [laughs]
Paul PugmireHOST
26:01
... and real excitement, First Tee is a beneficiary of this.
Paul PugmireHOST
26:05
You guys are so incredibly generous, make a difference for kids, First Tee kids around the state of Utah, and we, we are among the, the, the, the people who are benefiting from those incredible donations.
Ashley DoveGUEST
26:16
Paul-
Paul PugmireHOST
26:17
We are so thankful
Ashley DoveGUEST
26:17
...
Ashley DoveGUEST
26:17
I look forward to seeing your First Tee kids every year and visiting them.
Wells AdamsHOST
1:22
It's called the Golf Party, but it does help out the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which is a foundation I worked for as a kid.
Wells AdamsHOST
1:28
It helps out First Tee, which is another company that I worked for and interned for in high school and in college.
Wells AdamsHOST
1:33
And then also the Golf Diversity Program, helping young people get into this game that we love so much.
Wells AdamsHOST
1:39
But I don't know how, Chad, we got here.

28 MINS LATER

Peter JacobsenGUEST
29:44
Wow.
Wells AdamsHOST
29:45
Well, we just want to say thank you guys so much for having us out here at Monterey Peninsula Country Club for the golf party.
Wells AdamsHOST
29:51
This is such a cool event that you guys are putting on for such good causes like Monterey Peninsula Foundation, First Tee, and the Relf
Peter JacobsenGUEST
30:00
Diversity Program.
Gary WilliamsHOST
41:51
There's no competition.
Gary WilliamsHOST
41:52
It's the world's greatest and most famous dog park, and you can walk from the first tee all the way out, uh, to the Eden Hill and back, out to that estuary and back, and all you will see as far as your eyes can see are dogs.
Gary WilliamsHOST
42:08
How glorious is that? So those are your Dogs of the Week.
Gary WilliamsHOST
42:11
Dunhill Links tomorrow, early hours, uh, on Golf Channel.
Colby CowanGUEST
37:00
They spend a lot more time than I would've imagined on those aspects.
Colby CowanGUEST
37:04
You know, back years ago, it was go, go to the range, peg it up, hit a few shots, and get to the first tee, right? Anymore, it's, it's true fitness, it's, it's working on their game, and there's a science to it.
Colby CowanGUEST
37:15
The, the other thing I'm, I'm very impressed with them about is they're methodical about it, but it doesn't slow the game down either.
Colby CowanGUEST
37:22
They take their time.
Rob DespainHOST
10:04
Uh, there's so much good going on right now in Utah golf and particularly junior golf.
Rob DespainHOST
10:11
Uh, I attended a function yesterday, uh, that was raising money for the First Tee, uh, group and organization headed by Paul Pugmire and his staff.
Rob DespainHOST
10:21
They raise money for kids, uh, junior program.
Rob DespainHOST
10:25
And I know your mind quickly goes to these kids getting golf lessons, but maybe more important than the golf lessons is what they're teaching these kids about life, about school, about being a good person, about being a good teammate, good family member, good brother, good sister.
Rob DespainHOST
11:30
But they're helping these kids that, uh, maybe wouldn't have an opportunity to play golf, to play football, to play baseball or soccer or whatever it is.
Rob DespainHOST
11:39
But there's just so much good.
Rob DespainHOST
11:41
And if you're listening to this thinking, "Man, how could I help?" Uh, go to First Tee.
Rob DespainHOST
11:46
Go to the First Tee website and check that out.
Garrett JohnstonHOST
10:54
Yeah, I mean, that's a great part of California there.
Garrett JohnstonHOST
10:57
And a beautiful part of California you're in right now is Pebble Beach for the Pure Insurance Championship impacting the first tee.
Garrett JohnstonHOST
11:05
One of the really fulfilling events on this tour, the PGA Tour Champions.
Garrett JohnstonHOST
11:09
I'm curious, like, what strikes you at that event? You know, whether it's this year or interactions with kids or players there on property in years past.
Corby SegalGUEST
11:31
I played the California State amateur here when I was in high school.
Corby SegalGUEST
11:35
Or actually, when I just finished high school, I got in my first one here.
Corby SegalGUEST
11:38
Um, but to see, I was never really part of the first tee thing, but now to, to see, to be part of the first, come see these kids playing the first tee and how they act and how they present themselves and their demeanor and how polite it's just a world.
Corby SegalGUEST
11:54
It's, it's like the Evans scholar and the, and the, and the first tee, this type of stuff is, um, Very special just because of being a young person, watching these young people grow up with the golf is very special to see them interchange and doing it with these pros.
