First Special Service Force

Perhaps the most disgusting find is the use of these tiny cages.

Quote, "Between July 17th, 2025, and January 18th, 2026, FSSF," that's Soft-Sided Facility Florida, right, "confined 79 detainees in small metal enclosures, each offering about 18 square feet of floor space for periods ranging from several minutes to nearly two hours, a practice unlike any OIG team has observed in ICE facilities.

The use of such restrictive spaces is highly unconventional and does not align with standards for humane treatment." That's one way of saying it.

These are cages that are four feet three inches by four feet three inches by seven feet nine inches, and the staff called them calming areas.

This facility won't last long because it's already closed, but, uh, one day this shit will be a museum where we send our children to understand the fucked up shit that we did to people, a- and they will feel a sense of shame.

But Florida does not.

Indeed, it is not something that seems to concern DHS because, quote, "DHS stated it did not have a contract with Florida to manage the detention space at FSSF.

DHS indicated Florida detained illegal aliens at FSSF pursuant to its delegated authority under Section 287(g) of the Immigration Nationality Act, and therefore the state maintains authority of day-to-day operations at the facility," and that, quote, "DHS stated a Section 287(g) agreement does not give the federal government authority over the physical operations at any facility or over s- the state employees except to the extent in which they are performing the function of immigration officer." This is a crazy argument, right? L- like, there are ICE logos all over this facility.

The body-sized boxes used by the Central Intelligence Agency at its secret prisons, the open-air cages, isolation cells and stress position torture at Guantanamo Bay, and the infamous, quote, tiger cages used against political prisoners at Con Son by the US-backed South Vietnamese dictatorship.

On January 21, 2026, the date of the inspection, 1,467 people were detained at the Florida Soft-Sided Facility, the FSSF, near Orchope, an unincorporated community in the South Florida Everglades.

Inspectors documented overcrowded windowless housing units, punitive isolation, insect-infested showers, inadequate drinking water, unsafe food storage, restricted access to hygiene supplies, almost non-existent recreation and barriers to legal representation.

And so they say around 1.5% of the 5,000 personnel at Los Alamos are actually sympathetic to the Soviet bloc cause.
