I would definitely try it and buy it, but still, I think Diablo I remake is, is a possible chance.
DvalinHOST
2:39
Then Blizzard has kind of confirmed this one here, a new StarCraft FPS game.
DvalinHOST
2:46
If you go to the StarCraft II website right now, and if you try to open it in inc- incognito or you just, like, keep refreshing, you will eventually get, like, a little pop-up in the left corner on the website saying, "Receiving transmission data." And here you can click on it, and you can see a lot of, like, you know, behind-the-scenes data until it will give you a big red error saying, "Oh, you're not allowed to see this.
DvalinHOST
3:10
Rebooting your machine," or something like that.
DvalinHOST
3:14
But basically, it's, it's like glitching.
DvalinHOST
3:16
It's showing that something is happening with StarCraft.
DvalinHOST
3:19
And from everything we see is that there's a very, very big chance that we're going to get a StarCraft FPS game because it is, uh, like, someone called, um, Dan Hay, who is the former Far Cry head, like you know the FPS game Far Cry, is rumoredly working on this game here.
DvalinHOST
3:40
So what we think is that this game here is going to be...
MickHOST
69:27
More importantly, they had four-player split-screen multiplayer.
MickHOST
69:30
So GoldenEye is frequently credited with proving that a first-person shooter could be successful on a home console.
MickHOST
69:37
And with establishing console multiplayer as a major part of the FPS genre...
MickHOST
69:43
It is eventually surpassed as a standard for the console's first-person multiplayer by Halo.
MickHOST
69:50
What? Halo? That's the next...
Broccoli RobHOST
3:49
I think I was.
Broccoli RobHOST
3:51
Surprised at the like FPS gameplay, and I I'm really upset that it's I'm already really upset that it's not in Star Citizen.
Jar JarHOST
4:04
What you mean, you know, the FPS gameplay of War Dogs, what do you what do you mean by this? It's not in Star Citizen
Broccoli RobHOST
4:09
specifically.
Broccoli RobHOST
4:10
Yeah.

9 MINS LATER

Cosmic HoboAUDIENCE
13:13
that is also where a lot of the comparisons end as
SkeeterAUDIENCE
13:19
like I said
Cosmic HoboAUDIENCE
13:20
different it's different because it's focused I think Star Citizen has lost a lot of that focus and a lot of that comes from just the fact that it's trying to be there for FPS folks it's trying to be there for space combat trying to be there for industry trying to sometimes when they remember it exists be there for racers um someday someday i am as much as i hate racing in any game i am actually very proud of the community the racing community over the last like 12 years managing to keep that spirit alive with events like they're the only ones that have like consistent hosted events that at least one of the organizations is total trash, but at least they're trying, I guess.
TomHOST
2:35
I like it.
JohnHOST
2:35
And this is a game that really shifted the style, and holds quite a legacy in the FPS gaming.
JohnHOST
2:41
We're gonna cover what the game is, our memories of it, and really why it's so important from a legacy standpoint.
TomHOST
2:48
On the road to Call of Duty.

16 MINS LATER

TomHOST
19:14
Yeah, yeah.
JohnHOST
19:14
"Godlike." It got annoying later, but it was initially pretty cool.
JohnHOST
19:19
And there was this idea of it, I'm playing an FPS that's apparently also at a monster jam.
TomHOST
19:26
[laughs] Right.
SethHOST
33:34
one.
SethHOST
33:35
It doesn't even have First Person Shooter in the tags.
SteveHOST
33:38
You guys got it.
SteveHOST
33:39
It goes on the wish list.
GigaBeefHOST
38:58
And this is sort of War Dogs Adjacent, because I'm slowly moving into the War Dogs conversation.
GigaBeefHOST
39:02
But the War Dogs guys, Bulkheads, they did the FPS Games show the other day.
GigaBeefHOST
39:08
a lot of people showing off different bits of trailers and stuff i think it was actually quite clever piece of marketing because they are kind of like they're the ones with their time in the sun so to speak
ChurchHOST
39:19
and
GigaBeefHOST
39:20
so they've kind of grouped up with all the other people and being like hey you can showcase something cool kind of like you know borrowing our thunder kind of thing to like showcase off your stuff even if your game maybe is not like you know super hot on the boil for whatever reason, you know, like mid-cycle update or whatever else, which is pretty cool, actually, because I was like, I probably wouldn't ever have watched, you know, a promo about Bellum, for example, like on my own bat.
GigaBeefHOST
39:43
But because it was part of the FPS Games show, I did watch it.
GigaBeefHOST
39:45
And there was an update from Beautiful Light, and there was an update from Scum, and there was an update from Style Zone, and there was an update from Grey's Own Warfare, and yadda yadda, right? There's a lot of different people.
GigaBeefHOST
39:54
And, uh, what was interesting though, is that they said that Tarkov was going to be part of the FPS games show
speaker_0HOST
33:42
... to get the headshot, right?
Benjamin HornGUEST
33:44
For somebody kind of investigating, uh, how to move beyond mechanics, maybe a, maybe the FPS genre would be a good place to look, because you can talk about any game and you can say mechanics, and it's fine.
Benjamin HornGUEST
33:56
You can talk about the mechanics of Tetris, or you can talk about the mechanics of The Witcher 3.
Benjamin HornGUEST
33:59
These two games are not normally in the same conversation together, but you can use the word mechanics, and boom, they're together, right?
speaker_0HOST
34:05
Yep.
Benjamin HornGUEST
34:05
The FPS genre is unique in the sense that the gameplay is very similar, identical in a lot of FPS games.
Benjamin HornGUEST
34:14
You have the gun on the screen, you point the gun, you shoot the gun, right? But the quote un- quote, unquote, "mechanics", whatever the thing that we're talking about, is, it, it, it is very different from game to game.
Benjamin HornGUEST
34:26
Maybe, uh, you know, for people who are interested in this topic and, and to looking to develop a more precise language, taking FPS games, which allows you to kind of remove some of the different variables.
Mark WrightHOST
70:56
Now, this had a beta play test just over a week ago, and I missed it, but Snoogan's played it, and he was raving about it, and I've been looking at it, I've been watching a lot of videos, and it's piqued my interest a lot.
Mark WrightHOST
71:11
And then at the FPS Shooter event after Gamescom, The developer, I can't remember their name now, Bulkhead Games, they announced that they're doing another extra playtest this weekend.
Mark WrightHOST
71:27
It started Friday night and it ended Sunday morning.
Mark WrightHOST
71:30
So I downloaded the playtest, Jay downloaded it, Manifew, James did, and Snugan's already had it installed.
CurtisHOST
8:17
that's the beauty.
CurtisHOST
8:18
I mean, that's the positive and negative of MOBAs as a genre, right? Compared to a lot of other games, right? In Counter-Strike or FPSs, right? You lose a round, right? Your economy gets screwed.
CurtisHOST
8:29
Maybe you lose two or three rounds.
CurtisHOST
8:30
But that's fine.
Justin YinHOST
24:52
is fine for the most part, but I will say, I think they need to like reduce the headshot multiplier or something if it's in the, because I'm getting ripped so fast, like when they're shooting at my head and the, it could just be ping to be honest, but I notice it so much now.
Justin YinHOST
25:12
And, you know, if you play a lot of Call of Duty or just FPSs in general, I didn't really understand, oh, why does ping matter? blah blah when you're going from game to game and you're you're playing at like a 50 70 ping versus a 30 ping there's a huge difference when you play a lot like i can feel it in my m4 my m4 doesn't shoot as well as another person's m4 i'm getting ripped and Um, it, it could just be connection, you know, whatever, but there are so many times this weekend where I was shooting someone, I shot them first and then I get ripped and I'm like, I, that person should die.
Justin YinHOST
26:01
I had first bullets, didn't miss my shots.
Justin YinHOST
26:04
Um, so that part was annoying, but that could just be connection.
