First Battle of Beleriand

So the, the, uh, right, hang on.

So for most of the, the history of Middle-earth, or the, the writing history of it, the First Battle of Beleriand was actually the one that comes next, which is the Dagor-nuin-Giliath, which is the Battle Under Stars, which is where the Noldor come and Feanor dies, which is next episode.

Tolkien later decided that Morgoth's early attack on Thingol's people before the Noldor arrived deserved to be counted, so that retroactively bumped the Battle Under Stars to second and left the opening for this battle.

But it's also we don't know whether Tolkien meant to name this and never did, or deliberately left it nameless.

Yeah, it's, uh, it's pretty, pretty fucked up.
