... and it, and it made me wanna take steps of faith to repair a relationship with a parent or a sibling-

Welcome back to the Courageous Parenting Podcast with special guest Alex Kendrick on the show.

You've probably heard of his movies: Facing the Giants, Courage, Forge, Fireproof.

War Room.

War Room was definitely my favorite.

We have Alex Kendrick here.

Him and his brother have put out 10 movies.

My personal favorite, Facing the Giants, but, uh, Courageous, Fireproof, a whole numerous list of them.

Mm-hmm.

I'm thinking like, David's not going to want to watch a movie with me because he didn't want to do anything with me.

Now, if you don't know, Fireproof is a 2008 feature film created by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, who've created several other popular Christian films.

It stars Kirk Cameron, who plays a firefighter struggling in a dysfunctional marriage that's about to fall apart.

To save his marriage, he starts a 40-day experiment to win back his wife's heart, while also realizing that the only way their marriage can survive is through the power of Christ alone.

And the idea is we get great stories in movies like yours.

I've seen some great films like The Forge and, you know, I've seen, like, Fireproof, and I've seen The War Room, some really cool movies.

And I guess a question that people would ask, and it relates to us as presenters in this way-

Yes

The dopamine hit from that shifts to when people contact you 20 years later and they say-

Mm

... "My parents reconciled after watching Fireproof."

Mm.

And the reason why they hired the Maximus Group is because they wanted access to the Catholic market.

And on Fireproof, Maximus played a subordinate role.

It was another marketing firm that was the primary marketing firm.

Then Maximus was just the Catholic segment of the pie.

And then when they finished that campaign and they rolled out Fireproof and all of that, they did a post-op dump, data dump.

And what they discovered was that the biggest single chunk of the audience that watched Fireproof was Catholic.

So what they did on Courageous, which was their follow-up.

By the way, Facing the Giants, it was like their first one.

And, and then, um, Also, when I was putting this podcast, the idea kind of together and some of the notes, I was listening to some music off of my Apple Music.

And I came across the song from the movie Fireproof by the Kendricks Brothers.

And it's John Waller wrote the song.

My question is, what is your favorite project or show movie you've been a part of and why? You've done so many impactful things and I appreciate you.

I'd go right to Fireproof.

I'd go to Monumental, a documentary about our country.

But I love the brand new children's television show I'm working on right now.
