Varys mentions another ball the red comet which the people call the red messenger and believe heralds a king and warns of fire and blood dun dun dun what could it mean he then gives Tyrion his riddle three a king priest and rich man each order a self sword to kill the other two Shay thinks the rich man survives, but Tyrion realizes the answer depends on the sellsword, introducing the question of where power actually resides, aka the end of a Game of Thrones.

Indeed, indeed.

I mean, I'm pretty sure it's just based on a single book.

It's just Fire and Blood, which I think was just a one-off, so...

It's very lore-heavy, I think, what I understand.

Because I've only read a couple of the main Song of Ice and Fire books.

I haven't read Fire and Blood or any of the extra ones like that.

But I believe it's, from what I understand, it's kind of Silmarillion-y, where it's almost like a history book, like an in-world history book, I think.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, this reading covers in the original hardcover version of Fire and Blood, page 481, paragraph five to page 487, paragraph two, and then we're gonna skip all the way to 505.

But I wanted read those two paragraphs because they're the ones that cover Queen, uh, Helaena's death.

I mean, he's married to his niece-

... that he groomed as a teenager into being his, uh, Fire and Blood Targaryen bride.

But behind fire-breathing dragons, the story presents parallels with true events from the medieval history.

The show, based on George R.R. Martin's novel Fire and Blood, draws inspiration from a period called the Anarchy.

The years are 1135 to 1153.

A civil conflict wherein a controversial queen attempted to claim her throne from an upsurper.

Oh, massive.

But purely from an adaptation standpoint, judging it on how it handles George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood, she calls it a disappointment.

She does.

And it's because Fire and Blood is written as a fictional history book.

It's an in-universe encyclopedia with unreliable narrators.

Right.
