Final Fantasy Tactics Advance does release a year after this on the Game Boy Advance, so it's a hard sell to say play both of them just because they're quite long games and very probably similar.
O

Uh, we'll see once we get to Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, but, uh, that may be the one to play, though I think the story of this one is definitely worth seeing.

It's also interesting to learn the history of this series and this company.

There's a number of games now that I am definitely gonna go check out, especially the Nintendo 64 one I had straight up never heard of, which I'm interested to see what that looks like 'cause it's either really hit or miss on that system.

It released in 2003, I know shockingly, on the Game Boy Advance.

Who would've thought? And it's a tactical RPG that stands out for me big time.

It's just, I don't know if I necessarily like the whole, like... fantasy sci-fi blending together sort of thing like split fiction was one thing where like it made sense in that storyline this one it's just like i feel like this is we're just we're treading into like anime anime tropes
J
8:37Jeremy PowersHOST
well but it kind of reminded me of was um what was it uh Final Fantasy Tactics Advance specifically where you had the modern era that you started off the game in and then it would kind of work into the history of it so it felt like you were kind of touching on the future and the past and that's I know that's very tangentially connected but it kind of made me think about it of like oh there's this future aspect which isn't as far off as I initially thought I was like oh man has it been thousands of years and it's been like 15 or something and you're just like oh that's a lot going on in a short period of time like that's that's way closer than i thought it would be but it's it's unique that's for sure caught me by surprise because i was like wait they have guns what the hell
C
9:26ChaseGUEST
yeah it is a bit unique but uh overall i'm enjoying it like got no real complaints or issues that wouldn't be i guess sort of nitpicky
J
9:37Jeremy PowersHOST
Yeah, I think it's one of those where they were trying to figure out a way of how they allowed for character creation and your character with everything going on.

In a pinch, it was great.

Like Donkey Kong Country 2 on the Game Boy Advance, easily one of the things I played the most on along with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance back then on the GBA just because it was easy to pick up and play on the go.
J
6:04JohnHOST
But if you were to say, hey, you got Donkey Kong Country 2 on the GBA and it's on the, you know, Super Nintendo, I'm going Super Nintendo every day.
J

So, all right.

So Awakening is definitely up there, but I probably would go with just the first Advance Wars, the first one that we got, or maybe Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, which I think has excellent tactical combat.
M
51:11Mike MinottiHOST
Awakening is definitely still the tactics game that made the biggest impact on me.

It does not take place in the same world as Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, because Tactics Advanced took place in a book.
