He wasn't convinced, and he later admitted that his thinking was basically, well, what if I move all the way down there, discover these people aren't actually that good, and I've completely screwed myself.

But then he looked around him in his hometown and asked, well, is anyone here actually where they want to be in life? And he knew what he had to do.
