Fight Night

We have two new projects in development you'll hear about over the next few months, including a brand new social first open world experience for our American football team that we call Project Gridiron.

And we are also in pre-production to bring back a beloved fan favorite in Fight Night, leveraging capabilities from our simulation fighting team.

Ooh, I'm not going to lie.

That does excite me.

I loved Fight Night during the 360 and I believe PS3 era.

That game was so much fun.

That was like one of the sport games that I always had and I loved it.

I got you.

So again, there's not much out on it yet but just to put it on your radar that there is a new fresh trailer and you guys can go check it out if you are fans of Death Stranding.

So with that out of the way, let's move into our next off the top and that is that Fight Night is returning.

This is a series that has been dormant for over 15 years.

Back when EA was doing Fight Night, it was a big boxing game.

It was actually really, really...

Popular the they kind of went away for a little bit because UFC games kind of took over which became kind of way more popular but fight night Started back in 2004 which which with fight night Oh for which launched the franchise the critical acclaim fight night round two was an 05 which solidified the popular total punch control analog mechanic Fight Night Round 3, I kind of like how their things are just called Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, was the commercial high watermark for the franchise.

Number 4 was highly praised, achieving an 88 out of 100 on Metacritic.

Fight Night Champion was the last one they had in 2011, which shifted to a darker, story-driven narrative, but suffered a minor sales drop compared to the previous series.

I'm not sure what's going on with that whole thing.

My best guess is they're going to try to extrapolate that fc mode out into a full game for the nfl and then the other thing they announced that i think was far more well received and people understood is that a new fight night is coming so this is fight night champions i think it's like 12 years old it's been over a decade since ea has put out a new fight night and what happened is that ea canada is a studio that works on the fight night franchise ea put them on the ufc games and so they've been making the ufc games along with nhl kind of at the same time but they haven't been able to work on fight night since they were put on ufc now i guess they're changing that i don't know what that means for the ufc franchise but it sounds like they're changing it and they're going to have that studio work on a brand new fight night here's my question matt does fight night matter does boxing matter anymore

I don't know.

I was never a boxing person, really.

I mean, it's funny to me that they're like, oh, we're going to shift EA Sports to make all the things that really rich people watch, which boxing pretty much is that.

Yeah.

pay-per-views and attendance yeah um i really like the fight night game me too i thought they were great yeah they were it

just feels like there's just not enough interest in boxing to sustain a franchise more than once every five years i mean

So when you look at the broader picture, EA and their choices of what they're going to cut from, again, very cold business perspective.

They're looking at their, you know, FIFA, Madden, their sports line essentially, right? And they're talking about reviving Fight Night.

Hey, by the way, Fight Night, I remember playing Fight Night round three and round four.

And those were spectacular games on the Xbox 360 way back in the day.

But anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Those are the ready to rumble games.

I'm pretty sure when you say another boxing game, I feel like it's EA Fight Night, but I could be wrong.

I just don't remember why.

They posted it on a random social media.

Yeah, we're doing Fight Night again.

There's not been a new installment since 20...

Is that really the last Fight Night? Fight Night Champion? That's crazy.

That was a really good game.
