Fiat Ducato

Hi, Matt.

We've just changed our vehicle battery in our Fiat Ducato 2023 plate and are getting a bit confused as we have been told that we need to have a check done so that the vehicle... knows it has a new battery but the place where we bought the motorhome is saying that the fiat decato doesn't need it as it will reset in eight hours not sure who is right you get more and more of this on electrical systems in cars and vehicles these days don't you especially you know with electric vehicles the battery is paired with everything else in the vehicle yeah

And I'm afraid, Sharon, this is not a simple yes or no.

So it might be that the place you bought the motorhome is right, that it doesn't.

In my experience, if the vehicle has a BEM, so a battery energy management system, it's capable of learning there's a new battery automatically.

But the key here is, does the motorhome have start-stop? If it does, it may be that you do have to tell it, which is an ECU reprogram.

We've just replaced... a motorhome on a newish Fiat Ducato.

It was an auto-trail motorhome, but it was the Fiat Ducato side.
