Ferragosto

Not many people are going from from like Florence for example to Rome for a day trip So and not a lot of tourists are going into Florence that late a lot of flights arrived much earlier in the day So they're already on the morning or early afternoon trains So if you're a comfortable waiting to like 630 then it's yeah, then you're probably not gonna have much of an issue There's also I just for clarity In the height of the summer or in like the middle of August when everybody's moving around, that is when I think you and I see trains actually sold out.

But literally if it's not the week before and after Ferragosto in the middle of August and like for a week or two somewhere in the middle of July, not necessarily the middle of July, just, you know, it's always like weird.

It's like the second and fourth week of July is when everybody's traveling.

That's the only times I've ever seen trains like sold out, sold out.

Like, even holidays weren't a thing, you know? The place never closed.

They closed Ferragosto, which is the 15th of August.

It's an Italian bank holiday.

New Year's Eve, obviously Christmas, Boxing Day.

There's definitely stuff in the summer.

There are festivals and things, but Then it kind of hits like a point where there aren't as many, especially after Ferragosto in August.

It sort of a little bit falls off.

There are local ones.

So I think October, November especially is when these things happen.

September is not empty by any means.

As you've mentioned, there's a bunch of stuff happening, I think, like post-Ferragosto.

But seeing as this is going to come out on September 4th, it's going to be a bit late to maybe plan on things that if you are already here or are coming here, you might not be able to shift your schedule.

And I think we have to laugh about August.

August, as you know, it's Ferragosto.

What happens in Italy in Ferragosto? No one works.

And so when our

projects, you know, delayed a little bit because of the plaster and said, oh, it's going to be like end of June into July.

And then we realized it's August, so everything was closed.

All of the restaurants that you would want to try were closed because they're the ones run by Italians who are going on a Ferragosto vacation.

So we were like, oh, cool.

What does that leave

It has been really uncomfortable.

Typically, well, traditionally, I should say, historically, Ferragosto, the 15th of August festival, is the time at which the summer heat tends to break.

And, you know, cooling storms, rainstorms come in and...

This year, and I think we can probably expect this in future years.

And it was right after Ferragosto, the 15th.

Now there is an important difference though between doing this in September and doing it around Ferragosto, so in the middle of August.

In September there is generally more flexibility with accommodation, restaurants and services.

I'm not suggesting that you should arrive here without reservations regardless of the season.

In Italy it's called Ferragosto, and if I'm not wrong, it is every 15th of August.
