Felipe Contepomi

He sees his future very much there.

And then it seems Leinster want Felipe Contepomi.

That's the candidate they've decided to hone in on, and the presumption is he'll be open to a conversation certainly, if not the full-on, um, move.

So give us your sense of Contepomi and, uh, why you think Leinster have gone after him, and do you think he's a good fit?

At time of recording, they have won just one of their last seven test matches.

And yet, plenty of very respectable people in Rugby Union believe that their head coach, Felipe Contepone, is working on something.

They think that he is working on a plan that could see Argentina get to their first ever Rugby World Cup final.

Clearly, this warrants further investigation.

It's not the best of feelings.

As you said, the season wasn't that good after a very good 2025 season.

There was growth and involvement season to season since we've had Filipe Conte-Pomi as head coach.

That was right after finishing fourth in Rugby World Cup.

year they were decent last year yeah but it's up and down very much with them and they've had good moments and they've had pretty bad ones as well so look there's road to go but he I think from the start he was always a quite likely candidate given his Leinster heritage given his experience since given his fondness for Dublin and his affinity with Leinster like it makes it takes a lot of boxes

Luke, what's your perspective on the Contepomi link and what kind of coach you think Leinster need? We haven't really spent any time discussing who might come in after Leo Cullen or even what kind of candidate you might think would be a good fit.

Obviously, as Rudd said, has the playing CV from his time with Leinster, formerly an assistant coach with Leinster, has then gone on to the international arena and has been a test coach as well.

So his CV is, he is an experienced coach.

And Andy Farrell's deal, of course, sets to expire as well in 2031.

The timing of this is interesting and how it pertains to maybe a certain Felipe Contepomi as well.

So what's your take on all of this, Dara?

Yeah, as far as I suppose that's going to happen, the Andy Farrell conversation and the Ireland job, will it be vacant after the 2031? World Cup I think maybe look into these things a little bit too much because you know contracts in rugby tend to go by the World Cup cycles at least in the modern game so I don't know I wouldn't look into it too much too early he's not even signed the contract yet so but it looks as though that will happen and that he will stick around with La Rochelle for a little bit longer which is Firstly, with La Rochelle, it's a big vote of confidence because they're going through a bit of a transition period at the minute.
