Feliformia

This is, while they look like dogs, hyenas belong to the suborder fel-

...

Feliformia.

Feliformia, I got there, making them part of the cat-like group of carnivores.

It says they are not true cats, but they share more recent common evolutionary, evolutionary an- ancestor with cats than with dogs.

That's crazy.

But spotted hyenas are not dogs.

They belong to the Feliformia suborder.

This means they are more closely related to cats than to dogs, even though they are neither cats nor dogs.

In fact, they form their own family.
