Federico Higuaín

Before we completely move into our team's last couple games, let's talk about Max's team one last time.

Because there was drama with Columbus Crew's second team, Federico Higuain.

Oh, yes.

Former captain, former star for the Columbus Crew is now disgraced.

Into MLS news.

Columbus have sacked former player and now former reserve team coach Federico Higuain for being a disgusting misogynist, for which we say, bye Felicia.

Yeah, peace.

I mean, that's as fast as you can let someone go, right? Like, actually, was it that quick? What was their investigation? I don't know.

Shifting gears to a less positive topic.

Um, the Crew announced today that Federico Higuain has been let go as Crew 2 head coach.

Uh, this comes after it came out that he was kind of at the heart of, uh, some sexist comments, I guess is the best way to put it, um, towards a refer- towards a female referee.

And, um, he had been suspended for two games following the incident on August 23rd.

Um, this was, I guess, the, the quote that he has alle- allegedly said to this female referee was, "Don't forget that this is a man's game." Um, I guess before we get into the, the firing, just your reaction to finding out about these comments and, and, you know, the, Higuain as a guy who, you know, we've obviously watched a long time as a player, and then now as, as Crew 2 head coach these last, you know, two seasons, um, just your reaction to, to hearing that.

Yeah, I mean, it, it's, it's, uh, you know, I, I, I, I...

There's, I, I think on some level, and this is maybe naive of me a little bit, but I think it's the eternal optimist in me kind of talking a, a smidge that, um, I still can believe that we Even have to kind of have the conversation about, like, women in sp- pro sports and belonging, right?

Just a all around disappointing from, from start to finish.
