Federal Air Marshal Service

So I was on a speaking tour with Tom, uh, Border 911 commission, and I was talking about the plan that I'd devised to purge any agency of its corruption systematically.

And that's what I learned when I was inside the Federal Air Marshal Service and I blew the whistle on David Knowlton.

I saw the SES level circle its wagons around one of their own and try to save him, lest they all get exposed and torn down.

So no matter how rancid, no matter how corrupt, no matter how grossly he was mismanaging that field office, they didn't care.

We're going to have stronger doors.

And then we're going to have air marshals.

And so they went out and they hired a bunch of guys who pretty much just sat incognito back there.

So what was actually...

The difference between an FFDO, a flight, and an actual air marshal, a federal air marshal.

Yeah, well, it's funny, too.

I remember reading this somewhere that I think at the time of 9-11, there was only like 33 air marshals nationwide, you know, which is pretty wild.

But the difference between a federal flight deck officer and a U.S. federal air marshal is that the TSA describes the program of the FFDO as a deputizing qualified volunteer pilots program.

And Emily had been seeing someone prior to her death, for the record.

In an interview with SFGate, Emily's sister, Gail, told detectives that she knew about the man who worked as a U.S. Air Marshal.

Although Emily had met him through a dating app, it turned out that he was married.

Gail told SFGate that she's not sure whether Emily knew he was married or whether he had hidden that from her.
