Fear No Evil

That kind of sounds like a form of torture to me as well.

The book, his memoir, is called Fear No Evil, coming from the words of Lo-Ira-Ra, as in Lo-Ira-Ra-Ki-A-To-I-Mo-Di.

But then finally on February 11th, the story has a happy ending.

In 1986, after nearly nine years in captivity, Natan Sharansky was released.

And anyone who goes on Jeopardy is pretty educated.

And the clue was, this Bible book gives us the verse, yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.

And all three contestants just stared blankly at the screen.

These are people educated, never heard of the Psalms, basically.

Knew nothing about the impact of the Psalms on Western civilization.

Now, Sharansky's memoir was called Fear No Evil.

So I said to him, how does this make you feel? So he said to me, he said that he had once asked in 2014 in France, after there was an anti-Semitic attack, by an Islamist terrorist.

He asked a Jewish philosopher, is there a future for Jews in France? And this philosopher replied, the question is, is there a future for France in France? In other words, are they going to uphold the values of Western civilization? And he said to me, at the time, I would never have worried about America.

Today we're diving into our second round categories, giving Dara the chance to reflect on a whole new set of books that impacted her.

He later founded a political party representing Soviet immigrants, served as an Israeli cabinet minister and deputy prime minister, chaired the Jewish agency from 2009 to 2018, and became a prominent author and advocate for democracy, Zionism, and the fight against anti-Semitism.

He is also known for his memoir, Fear No Evil, and for his belief that free societies are essential to protecting human rights.
