That was, uh-
JohnnyHOST
0:16
Kind of reminded me of Moya from, uh, Farscape.
EthanHOST
0:19
Yeah, well, we'll get into it.
EthanHOST
0:21
No, so today, uh, so that was, uh, Johnny and Jeremy respectively, but again, this is the second to trilogy, so if you did not read the first one or listen to us talk about the first one, you gotta do that 'cause otherwise you're gonna be a little lost.
EthanHOST
3:31
You can go ahead in...
EthanHOST
3:32
Your 60 seconds begin in three, two, one, go.
JohnnyHOST
3:38
Lando is stuck inside Moya from Farscape, uh, after like, you know, losing contact with the rest of the New Republic, uh, people that he was out there with, with Lobot, R2, and C-3PO.
JohnnyHOST
3:53
He's yelling most of the time.
Dave BakerHOST
36:37
Like, I just weep for what our culture could have been had he not passed away.
Dave BakerHOST
36:44
The Overton window of accepting weird avant-garde strange art that our culture could have been, uh, you know, and how it could have evolved what the median person thinks is, you know, acceptable, interesting, uh, standard piece of entertainment, you know? Like, our, our world is so much dimmer because they stopped at fucking Farscape or whatever, you know? Not that they stopped.
Dave BakerHOST
37:12
They still make things, but you know what I mean.
Dave BakerHOST
37:13
Like, I don't think he was even involved in Farscape, but you, you know what I'm saying.
Dave BakerHOST
37:17
Like-
Andrew PriceHOST
37:17
That was, that was, that was firmly a Brian Henson joint.
Andrew PriceHOST
40:27
He just suddenly died.
Andrew PriceHOST
40:29
Um, so the, the Henson family, you know, they try to move on.
Kris CornelisseHOST
74:17
Classic, like there's a reason these classic sci-fis have persisted.
Kris CornelisseHOST
74:21
Like, yeah, I, I, I was obviously, obviously more of a Star Wars guy for a lot of it, but, like, I have dabbled a little bit in parts of Star Trek and, um, things like Farscape and what have you.
Kris CornelisseHOST
74:35
Lots of good stuff out there which is worth checking out and has held up remarkably well.
Kris CornelisseHOST
74:40
So-
Brian BarnettHOST
75:01
Yeah, Plane- Planes- there's Planescape, there's Stargate, there's Battlestar Galactica, there's Babylon 5.
Brian BarnettHOST
75:08
There's, like, a b- there's a bunch.
Kris CornelisseHOST
75:10
Farscape, not Planescape.
Kris CornelisseHOST
75:11
Planescape is a game you especially playing for Star- uh, Skydive.
NeckboneHOST
22:44
That's what...
NeckboneHOST
22:44
I'm watching Far- I'm re-watching Farscape, and that's on Tubi, man.
Jer BearHOST
22:47
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Jer BearHOST
22:47
For sure.
NeckboneHOST
22:48
'Cause where the fuck else can you watch Farscape unless you buy the DVDs?
Jer BearHOST
22:52
I, it was streaming somewhere a couple years ago, 'cause I-
NeckboneHOST
22:55
Mm-hmm
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
23:47
And so many of my friends are like the top showrunners, like Rockne O'Bannon, who I'm partnered with on one of the shows.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
23:55
He created Farscape and Defiance and Alienation and Sequest.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
23:59
And most recently, he was executive producer on Evil.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
24:01
And, you know, this is the guy that you want to say, okay, what do you want to create? Not some network executive, because this is the guy who's going to come up with something wonderful.

11 MINS LATER

Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
35:20
But you just extrapolate beyond that to tell a meaningful story.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
35:25
And so it's not hard.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
35:29
When I talked to Rockne O'Bannon, who created Farscape, and I said, let's create a show together.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
35:34
He said, well, how do you want to do it? I said, okay, I'll generate some ideas, and then you can go down them and see what sparks for you, and we'll talk.
JenHOST
53:55
Yeah.
JenHOST
53:55
He's like, uh, I, I don't know, like Rigel from "Farscape" maybe.
TimHOST
53:58
Okay.
JacobGUEST
53:59
Sure.
NickHOST
5:44
from.
NickHOST
5:44
That show you really talked about a lot and made me watch Farscape.
LisaHOST
5:49
Listen, our theme tune to this podcast is based on the Farscape theme.
LisaHOST
5:54
Because it happened to be what we were watching when I wrote it.
NickHOST
5:58
For context, I'm the Farscape fan and I forced Lisa to watch it.
NickHOST
6:04
Because it was filmed in Australia, I had a really...
NickHOST
6:08
And Claudia Black and a lot of other people that I knew previously... from previous roles, I was really excited to watch it, and when it was on TV back in the day, went to, like, the equivalent of, like, Australasia's Comic-Con, which was called Armageddon, and met Wayne Black in person, who plays, like, the best villain of all time, come at me in the comments, Scorpius, because he is, like, diabolically evil, but his motivations are cartoonish as in twirling mustache to um tying woman to train tracks but there's a legitimate reason that he's like that and i feel like it's just so well written written um versus a lot of other like sci-fi villains which are just like i'm evil for evil's sake and you're like yeah i get it
LisaHOST
6:56
i live
John SiuntresHOST
3:08
He's got a Kickstarter campaign that he just started called The Showrunners Network.
John SiuntresHOST
3:13
This is a creator-owned production company bringing six original projects to audiences with collaborators like Rockne O'Bannon of Farscape.
John SiuntresHOST
3:23
And Mark Fergus, Chris Wyatt, Ian McCraig, Armin Shimmerman, of course, from Star Trek, and lots of other Star Trek alumni.
John SiuntresHOST
3:30
So really interesting conversation.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
7:56
And so there's all these great shows that you never got to see.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
7:58
So many of my friends are the creators of some of the shows that you did get to see, like The Expanse, or my friend Mark Ferguson, who was a showrunner on, well, he was the showrunner on The Expanse.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
8:08
Rockne O'Bannon created Farscape, Defiance, Alien Nation, Sequest, you know most recently he was executive producer on evil um my friend my friend chris wyatt produced napoleon dynamite now he's a showrunner in television and it's sort of like okay and i know a ton of actors from shows i worked on like doug jones and uh bob picardo and james hong and francois chow from the expanse and on and on and on and uh and so i thought well let's just you know raise money pull it together start making tv shows and movies so the showrunners network is a slate of five two-hour science fiction pilots and one feature and we've created a repertory company of actors who appear in multiple roles in the different shows and so we got barbara bain who's from space 1999 and mission impossible she's 95 but she's still a pistol she's great wow and uh and so it gives me an opportunity to work with phenomenal actors and uh And my wife and I write and produce and direct together.
Marc Scott ZicreeGUEST
9:03
And it's just a dream come true.
Sean FarrellHOST
32:34
It's just, but it really told good storyline.
Sean FarrellHOST
32:38
And Farscape is another one that
Matt FerrellHOST
32:40
I
Sean FarrellHOST
32:40
keep thinking about of, like, Farscape could be wildly uneven, but when it was good, it was great.
Sean FarrellHOST
32:45
And when it was fun, it was it was hysterically fun.
Sean FarrellHOST
32:49
It was just like, are you they're doing what now? Like and doing some really wackadoo stuff.
Ian TaylorHOST
34:39
Um, with the addition of storied and trailblazing Jim Henson Company.
Ian TaylorHOST
34:44
Honoring Henson's legendary and innovative career as a beloved puppeteer, filmmaker, and television pioneer, Upper Deck will create new avenues for fans to connect with classic characters and films including Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, there you go, Wesley, Farscape, and Fraggle Rock.
Ian TaylorHOST
35:01
[laughs] I'm sorry for having that list-
WesleyHOST
35:03
Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba
Ian TaylorHOST
36:56

Ian TaylorHOST
