Farnborough International Airshow

So right now, there's a lot of pressure to produce domestically and faster, and we're seeing this in Europe as well.

What's your take on this, since I believe you just recently got back from the Farnborough Air Show? Why is execution the best bet for manufacturers right now?

Farnborough was an amazing experience, and honestly, it really highlighted what's happening in this macroeconomic environment.

So whether we're talking about commercial aerospace or defense, the conversation, again, wasn't about demand.

It was about...

And I get loads and loads and loads of messages from people saying, You know, often it's dads saying, my son really wants to do this and I don't know how to do it.

I was at Farnborough Airshow a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, how was that? It was really great, actually.

I was working with an organisation called Fly Forward, who their kind of ambition is to get... youngsters into aviation but also showcasing the fact that it's not just pilot cabin crew there's loads of career opportunities and there were so i probably spoke to 30 or 40 parents who were there with their kind of let's say teenage kid saying yeah but how do i do this how do we do it and so you know on a wizard perspective we have the wizard pilot academy brilliant other airlines have got their own academies.

We've done the horse racing events, the Derby, the Epsom Derby.

Now we're going on to Farnborough Airshow that's happening next.

only every two years but people come from all over the world literally for that because it's it's a sort of trade fair no public allowed you know and then you've got um you know other racing events you've got uh goodwood which is two things one horse racing and the second half of goodwood is all about motor cars and you know and you get racing drivers there you get famous people coming to i mean it's a Fantastic event.

And things like that.

My guest today is Christophe Pereira, CEO of SAS Aerospace Carbon Solutions and Sustainability at GE Aerospace.

So the parallels with configurations, with cabin products, with soft products, with hard products, maybe if we have time, I would love to get a little bit of insight around innovation and what that means to, to him, particularly under this, this new leadership that we have.

Can Qatar Airways still be a true innovator when some critics, some cynics would argue, at an industry level, there isn't that much innovation still to be done? Um, having said that, at the, uh, Farnborough Airshow, uh, just last month...

Was that last month? Wow.

Like, it flies by.

I was working for a contractor for the state of Arizona.

And one day we hosted the economic development delegation from Arizona at the Farnborough Air Show.

And I was manning the booth.

I really didn't know what I was doing.

Um, another area that you have to look at is the new orders for new aircraft.

Um, I'm not a Farnborough person, but I listened in absolute awe to the, uh, presentation that took place.

When you understand how many people are traveling, how many new aircraft are orders, how people are changing the orders.

Go look at Rolls-Royce to see how they are modifying, uh, the engines for the new area.
