So did you farm as well, or did you just say, I'm going to sell to farmers?
Tyler HunterGUEST
10:50
No, so my family farmed, and we got into farming in 2011.
Tyler HunterGUEST
10:58
Oh, gosh.

Charles SmithGUEST
25:38
As I'm sure you're both very well aware, about a third of food produced globally ends up being wasted.
Charles SmithGUEST
25:45
um i saw in that you know a really major problem right there are all sorts of negative environmental and economic consequences to that waste but also saw it as a huge opportunity right there that food that organic matter is not inherently waste it is being wasted um but there is in fact value that that can be brought back from it um and as i was kind of exploring different aspects of this problem i came to understand that microorganisms are how nature recycles organic matter and that if we could develop the right combination of microbes to do that job really consistently and efficiently we could build a biotech company around that and so again it kind of started with the problem and then of course came to recognize that Farms are where there's a huge amount of organic matter left in the field in the same place where fertilizer will be applied.
Charles SmithGUEST
26:40
If we can get our microbes there, we also simplify a lot of logistics challenges and can kind of create that value in a context where it's very meaningful to the end customer.
Tim NessHOST
26:55
Yeah, I think it's super interesting.

We've all here in New Zealand, if someone's like, oh, what should I be kind of running at? My answer is normally, well, what are people asking you? You know, what do they want? What is our market asking for? What small shift could I make that would position me just that step to the side and I'd be ready to take a new opportunity? Cornish Mutual,
