And you stay for a week, and you take classes with three different Black professors.

We had a literature class with Farrah Jasmine Griffin.

We had a sociology class with, oh, I think it was Howard Stevenson.

And then we had a class with Ken Shropshire, too.

So I, because I entered college in 1996, I benefited tremendously from the work of Black feminist scholars from the 1980s, especially, you know, um, I just came from, oh, I didn't say this earlier, but you know, I did part of my trajectory was that I did a postdoc at UVA also.

So after I left Harvard, I did a postdoc at UVA and, um, Deborah McDowell, I just went to her retirement conference at UVA, and just hearing about what a big difference it was for them, for the generation of people like Deborah McDowell, Mary Helen Washington.

all people who I read, Barbara Christian, some of them who have gone on, of course, but being able to read, I recently went through the archives of Barbara Smith, right? So as a Black feminist scholar in the late 90s, I benefited tremendously from the work of that generation because I was mentored by the second generation, right? So Farrah, because Farrah Jasmine Griffin was my mentor, she introduced me to all these works, all these texts, and all of these people, right? Like she introduced me in person.

And when I saw at the Du Bois Forum over the weekend, I ran into Saidiya Hartman and she always tells the story like, Regine was a baby when I first met her.

John Perpiner was there, who's like a dance scholar, a dance historian.

And Farrah Jasmine Griffin was the seminar leader.

So it was like, you know, I mean...

And Jessica Krug was also there that year.
