She would never see again.

Her name was Fanny Crosby, and she grew up refusing pity.

At eight years old, she wrote, "Oh, what a happy soul I am, th- although I cannot see." She's known as often saying, "When I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior." Hallelujah.

But she was no ordinary person because Fanny Crosby went on to write more than 8,000 hymns.

So many that publishers gave her almost 200 pen names because people would never believe that one person wrote all these songs.

Among her many songs were Blessed Assurance and To God Be the Glory.

Nobody would blame me if I sat and just spent the rest of my life mad about a doctor who hurt me.

But instead she wrote, and she wrote, and she wrote, and she other, encouraged others to look heavenward even when she couldn't do it herself.

Number four is to integrate composer and hymn studies.

When kids learn about musicians like Handel or Fanny Crosby, they're not just learning music, they're seeing faith in action.

And I began to pause here and I began to just reflect on church history.

You know, another woman came to mind, Fanny Crosby.

Have you heard of her? Fanny Crosby, who was virtually born blind, became one of the most prolific poets and writers and hymn writers in the 19th century.

It is believed that over her lifetime, this woman who could not even see composed 8,000 to 9,000 hymns.

It's actually believed that there was more But many of the hymns that were not attributed to her was purposely done because publishers feared that if all these hymns were written by Fanny Crosby, then people would lose interest.

Like, are there not any other authors? Are there not any other hymn writers? So she would take on pseudonames.

Pseudonames.
