Famesick

As I was reading this story, I'm like, oh, well, this I might actually be interested in girls if Adam Driver's on it.

Lena Dunham released a book earlier this year, Famesick.

I haven't read it, but I've heard lots of excerpts from it.

And she talked very highly about all of the cast members who are returning.

Today we're chatting about Phoebe's multifaceted career, how she became a publisher of a book imprint at Penguin Random House, and her incredibly wide-ranging taste in books.

Well, I can tell that that joy is still there, is still imbued in every single song.

But on the subject of having your eyes opened to the industry, let's talk about your second bookshelfy book, which is Famesick by Lena Dunham.

Published earlier this year, Famesick is Lena Dunham's second memoir, which tracks her rise to fame and the impact it's had on her body and mind, from chronic health conditions to addiction, recovery and relationships.

It's a rowdy, frank reflection on illness, fame, sex and everything in between, in which the remarkable mind behind the hit TV series Girls describes the long shadows often cast by a life in the spotlight.

So this is a book you've read recently.

But as a writer, I just find her voice is so singular.

It's so warm.

But it's so, like... honest and that's kind of a word I think that's overused but that Famesick I just was I'm so kind of impressed by it and was so infatuated with it because it's so honest in a way that like I can't even really imagine most I don't think most people would be able to to be that honest about themselves and also understand themselves the way that she sort of has has come to understand herself in Famesick and I think she's writing it in her late 30s, early 40s, I think.

And I was like, wait, this is good.

Then Lena Dunham's memoir came out, Famesick.

I'm a huge Lena Dunham fan.

Then I read Sociopath, which I told you about last week.

Okay, HBO's Girls is a perpetual discourse generation machine, obviously, in its day, but also all these years later still, particularly since the release of creator Lena Dunham's memoir Famesick earlier this year and her even more recent announcement of a limited sequel series with all four titular girls.

At least one of their mothers returning.

While it was on, I certainly remember reading about individual episodes, the one at the beach house, the lost weekend at Patrick Wilson's place, the panic in Central Park.

I saw it.

Our Loser of the Week continues to be Chuck Lorre kind of indirectly this time.

His memoir, I don't really care about this man's life, but there's so much news coming out about it that it kind of makes me want to read it just to see what's all in it.

But anyway, this time- It's because Holland Taylor, who played Charlie and Alan's mother in Two and a Half Men, went on a podcast this week and just lit up the production for saying they paid her like shit.

It's some kind of disaster or celebration usually in these kinds of reunions.

they've also confirmed that Andrew Rannells who plays Elijah will be back and as far as I know nobody else from the original cast has been like confirmed confirmed but Lena Dunham has spoken in the past year about Christopher Abbott who played Charlie who's in East of Eden at the moment when I posted about this on Instagram and somebody was like but where's Christopher Abbott and I was like he's off tending his East of Eden obviously yeah I feel like they probably will bring back some of the OG characters I do not think Adam Driver will be back because I don't think that relationship ended well and Lena Dunham speaks about it quite frankly in Famesick the book so I don't think there's any love lost there and that kind of makes sense I

would love to see Hannah's neighbor Laird oh yes Laird with the hat Laird with the hat and the baby with the absolutely magnificent oh my god what is that actor's name um oh he's Adam Driver's sister Adam's sister oh yeah yeah Adam's sister girls why has that gone out of my head I think she's such a great actor Gabby Hoffman yeah Jesus

What do you mean? You want the memoir? I want the memoir.

I'm just thinking, I don't know if I actually think that's true, because I'm rereading Lena Dunham's Famesick.
