Well, obviously, there was no air travel at the time because everything was grounded because of those events.

So I had to rent a car and drive from San Diego to Fairfield, California, which is normally easily an eight hour drive.

And I did it in five hours because I pretty much hit the gas.

It was a rental car and I drove it like a rental and got up there fast.

You can imagine how challenging that would feel and how that would actually look on the ground where, uh, it becomes a kind of a mission impossible thing.

What we were able to do is connect with AFWERX, um, which is the innovation arm at the Air Force, and AFWERX had a SBIR program where they would basically say, "Hey, if you can find a stakeholder," we found Travis was the stakeholder, Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, and if they'll sign an MOU and say they have this problem, and they would like for you to attempt to solve it, you can do that.

And that gave us the lane to do something in the federal space for the first time.

And what happened is we customized our software specifically for the Exceptional Family Member use case.

Assemblymember Al Meritsuchi proposed the bill after our reporting found that a Bay Area math teacher was able to keep teaching even after getting fired for sexually harassing female students at a Fairfield high school.

The bill would allow the state's teacher licensing agency to discipline administrators who fail to fully vet applicants for histories of misconduct.
