I would either buy in Fairfield, Smithfield, or Weatherill Park because of the fact that, okay, yes, they don't have flood zones.

A local council is sounding the alarm this morning.

The Mayor of Fairfield, Frank Carboni, is making a noise about a proposed cut to his council's funding.

The New South Wales Local Government Grants Commission has proposed redistributing the Federal Assistance Grants.

This money is used to help councils respond to population growth, migration and social disadvantage.

Under the plan, Fairfield Council is set to lose around $3 million a year.

That's despite strong population growth in the area.

and it being among the most disadvantaged councils in New South Wales.

In a letter, the Grants Commission says, this draft proposal may change how funding is distributed between councils.
