In response, the U.S. Army band's garrison flag was brought forward and draped across the damaged facade, standing as an enduring symbol of American resilience, unity, and unwavering resolve.

That historic act of defiance and hope was carried out through the joint efforts of soldiers and first responders from Alexandria Fire Department, the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, and the United States Army.

We are deeply privileged today to have them with us, three of the individuals who helped unfurl that historic flag, Joseph Morabito, Scott Morgan, and Carl Solberg.

Since that time, the national colors have been unfurled on the same spot each year at dawn on 9-11 to remind all who attend the memorial ceremonies, those who go into work that morning, Pentagon visitors, and those who pass on the highway that passed this building, it remains solid.

That's one of them.

It's tough.

Now, the one thing today that I don't think in the 25 years since I first covered this event I'd ever say I would be uttering is there is a creeping 9-11 denialism occurring across this great country.

People trying to pretend it isn't what it was that day, that it wasn't a terror attack, maybe it was just a hijacking, that it wasn't about Islamist extremism, like some teachers were told to tell their students in Fairfax, Virginia, just a few miles from that Pentagon crash, that hijacking, that terrorist attack.

It's about the things that Mayor Mondani did, handing a ceremonial pen for 9-11, not to one of the heroes of 9-11, but to a lawyer who represented an al-Qaeda terrorist and a terrorist who was related to one of the 19 hijackers.

It was the giggle today between AOC and Mamdani during the solemn ceremonies in New York.

Doesn't surprise me that much.

But it does surprise and shock me that Fairfax, Virginia is saying we will not use the words Islam or Muslim in relationship to the 9-11 attacks when that was literally in the shadow of the Pentagon.

And they're saying, no, we're not going to use those terms.

I was shocked today.

Fairfax, Virginia is telling its students not to use the word radical or Islam in their studies about 9-11.

That's shocking.

This sort of, you know, watering down, as we heard from Jessica Tisch, saying don't morph the two.
