Faʻa Sāmoa

David Feuaí Afaese, Navakato Tekelapule, Levi Gemmo, and Larson Taylor, who perform as Pacific neo-psychedelia group, Le Ao, won the twenty twenty-six APRA Silver Scroll Award for La Le Lei on Wednesday night.

La Le Lei celebrates Aiga Ma Atunuu and captures themes of distance, union, and commitment to Fa'a Samoa.

David Feuaí Afaese thanked his bandmates when accepting the award.

It's extremely humbling to, uh, for us to receive this award.

And the creativity, it really feels like this World Cup, the Pacific people have found the ultimate form of their cultural expression of culture.

of the culture, of the food, of the Faa Samoa and Angka Whakatonga, just the whole culture is bleeding out.

I've never seen it through rugby union or any other sport.

It really looks like it's really landed as an expression for the passion of the Pacific community who've really made the World Cup move on from this two- and three-horse race that it once was.
