For part two, we took the F train to downtown Brooklyn, which has experienced a very different transformation over the past few decades.

It is a business and government district, which was also famous for being the borough's major shopping district.

However, changes in retail took a toll, but then a 2004 rezoning ushered in a modern era of gigantic residential towers, resulting in a dramatic transformation to the neighborhood.

But individual businesses, privately owned businesses, many decades old and older, have been forced to close due to high rents.

So while the touristy vibe of Little Italy hasn't really shifted too much in the decades, it is losing some of its past.

Places like Forlini's and Oliva Dairy, Greg, which is heartbreaking.

Oliva Dairy originally opened on Grand Street in 1892 when what we call Little Italy today was called the Italian Quarter.
