Ezra Taft Benson

It'll be a part of who we are.

President Ezra Taft Benson put it most poignantly when he said, When obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment God will endow us with power.

How is having God's law written in our hearts different than from just reading it in the scriptures? Why do we want to make covenants with the Lord? Why does he want to make covenants with us? Because he loves us and he wants us to return to him.

And we are going to help everyone in the world to know that.

And that's wonderful.

But as President Ezra Taft Benson taught, yesterday's meal is not enough to sustain today's needs.

Conversion isn't something that happens only in the past.

It's something that happens continually each and every day and needs to happen every day, which then allows Christ to continue to change me.

You can just imagine the internal reaction to this.

These historical admissions deeply angered conservative church leaders, especially Apostles Ezra Taft Benson and Mark E. Peterson.

They were already suspicious that Arrington's history department was becoming way too secular and far too honest about the messy parts of history.

Arrington really felt the walls closing in on him.

It's going to be on the inside.

And, and, um, President Ezra Taft Benson, he shared a quote that my wife loves, I've loved, it's blessed my life immensely, where it illustrates the contrast of the leaders of the Jews at the time who were emphasizing outward things to the expense of the inward things.

And President Benson mentions this famous statement where he says, the Lord, quote, the word works from the inside out, where the world works from the outside in.

The world would take people out of the slums, but Christ takes the slums out of people and then they take themselves out of the slums.

I obey the law because it is written into the very fiber of my being, and I want to do it.

I think President Ezra Taft Benson, as quoted by Donald Staley in April of 1998, said it well.

In describing the kind of people we should be, President Benson said, when obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment, God will endow us with power.

And I see Jeremiah looking through his Syric eyes and seeing that kind of people, a people on whom the law is written on their hearts.

So already off the bat when we're describing patriarchal order, we are talking about a family organization.

Ezra Taft Benson says the church was created in large measure to help the family and long after the church has performed its mission, the celestial patriarchal order will still be functioning.

You see, when all of this is finished and we are existing with our parents and We've attained and really achieved eternal life.

We're in this church of the firstborn, this general assembly.

Here are the special ordinances that are provided for every single firstborn.

If you choose to be a part of the firstborn entering into that patriarchal order, Adam entered into the priesthood order of God.

Then Ezra Taft Benson points out today, we would say they went to the house of the Lord and received their blessings.

The order of priesthood spoken of in the scriptures is sometimes referred to as the patriarchal order because it came down from father to son.

When He said, "I am come that ye might have life, and that ye might have it more abundantly," I don't believe He meant only after retirement, but that we can enjoy the peace and happiness now.

President Ezra Taft Benson said, quote, "I hope that we will keep ever burning in our hearts the spirit of this great work which we represent.

As we do so, we will have no anxiety.

We will have no fear.

He knows that the outside will take care of itself when the ins-- inner space is formed.

In other words, the form of the inner chamber determines the appearance of the exterior.

President Benson spoke to us as a church of the importance of focusing on the inner vessel, beginning first with ourselves, then with our families, and finally with the church.

Society and the world holds the magnifying glass to our outward appearance, the style of our clothing, the strength of our GPA, the size of our home, the price of our car.

Mariner S. Eccles, of an old elite family and a Mormon and an Illuminatis, became Secretary of the Treasury in 1934 and was chairman of the Federal Reserve Board from 3451.

Ezra Taft Benson, later the LDS president, was appointed Secretary of Agriculture.

David B. Haight, a prominent Mormon, was made the head of all the mayors in the San Francisco area.
