Eye drop

It is dexamethasone eye drops to prevent treatment requiring retinopathy of prematurity.

This is the drop ROP randomized clinical trial.

So stage one or two without plus disease in zone one or stage two or three in posterior zone two without plus disease.

This becomes important because that's really what we're looking for for babies who are developing a treatment-level ROP.

Infants were excluded if they had ongoing external ocular infection or if the neonatologist considered that the eye drops were unsuitable for that infant.

So for the intervention infants, they receive topical dexamethasone, one milligram per ml, or they, I told you it was a double blind, or placebo, a preservative-free saline in identical single-dose containers, which was administered by the bedside nurse.

And especially in children, you have to look at the whole person.

And that's why we take a very detailed history and we want to find out, you know, what was the birth experience like? Did the child crawl? Did they, you know, integrate their primitive survival reflexes? That's a subject we can get into.

So I've worked a lot And for every parent that goes for an eye exam, you know, and the doctor uses those eye drops that paralyze the focusing muscle.

That is the worst thing you can do for kids because then you're going to get a false positive.
