Experiential knowledge

I mean, Jesus was all about go in your room, shut the door, be by yourself.

Um, and, and that's what The Cloud of Unknowing teaches, is to experiment with, as Father Keating says, "God's first language is silence." And it is, I mean, 'cause I have to use the word gnosis if I'm gonna talk gnosis, but literally it is about the experiential knowledge of really having this intimate, in the Hebrew it's da'at, and, you know, in the Greek it's gnosis, and it's an intimate knowledge of really not knowing about God but actually being friends with God.

I, I once was at this, uh, monastery in Conyers, a Trappist monastery, and Father Tom Francis, he's a blessed memory now, we were having lunch and Father Tom said to me, "You know, Carmen, isn't it a shame?" He said, "A lot of people just don't know." And he was so affable.

He was already 80-something.

And thus it means Atmavān means there is experiential knowledge based on first theoretical knowledge and then experience of it.

So then maya matram idam jnatva, then understanding that this material world is simply maya, manifestation of maya.

So maya does not mean that it doesn't exist, but it is all temporary.

The darkness will continue.

You may know that, okay, I have light in the next room.

So you may know theoretically I'm not the body, but when you act, you act exactly I am the body because that's my experiential knowledge.

So therefore, he's saying that this Gyanam here is not theoretical Gyanam because he says, .
