Ex opere operato

But it's a masterful theology.

And what you're saying, yeah, there's the subjective experience that the scholastic theologians called the ex opere operantis, and then there's the objective grace given, you know, the res et sacramente, the Latin expression, the ex opere operato, and these kinds of things coming together in the sacramental encounter.

the objectivity and the subjectivity and different theologies can emphasize kind of one over the other like you said in evangelical uh christianity it could be more emphasis on the subjective experience thinking of the anabaptist traditions and a believer's baptism and real emphasis on personal conversion.

As you said, these are all good things, but we start to get a kind of distancing between the objective and the subjective in different kinds of theologies.
