Everything She Wants

Uh, we mentioned George earlier.

This is Wham!, uh, Everything She Wants.

Yeah.

I have kind of done this some sort of chronologically, and the reason, going back to 1984, so I had, my parents had a youth group.

[laughs] He's go- la, la.

You know, it's, it's kind of very, very odd.

Um, but it's really great, and I've, Everything She Wants, for me, I, I... it's possibly my favorite ever song, I would say.

There's something about it where he's hit absolute genius, perfection in everything.

I think it's up to like 110 volumes of edits now, and there are some real great ones in there.

A long, long time ago, I think I played his edit, his extended edit of Wham! Everything She Wants, which I think is pretty extraordinary, really.

Pretty great track to start with.

Anyway, before Sade, you heard A Certain Ratio with Salvador's Fish from their 1992 album Up in Downsville that was released on Rob's Records.

The thing is he sometimes sang them, wrote them, produced them, arranged them, played every single instrument.

I mean, Last Christmas, he does everything on that song and on Everything She Wants.

The, the engineer offered to play the sleigh bells, and he said, "No, I think I'll do those, too." [singing] It's a bit odd that he was seen as this kinda boy band member when actually he was this Stanley Kubrick-style, uh, kind of control freak who often did everything on these hits that became not only international number ones, are still being played 40 years later.

In the world o- of, of songwriting, um, as you said, he only wrote, he wrote less than 100.
