Everybody Dance

[laughs] Is there a song that you think of that is the most you?

Um, the most me, honestly, is Everybody Dance, the very first song that we wrote.

And when I say that, I mean the real full length of Everybody Dance.

Yeah

... not the way we do it on our show now, 'cause we'd be up there for, what, 10 or 11 minutes, uh, just doing one song.

Yeah.

And I just started singing it.

"Everybody dance.

And I've always been drawn to the songs which are more, not necessarily more simplistic, but they sound great.

Take Everybody Dance, Unless You Can Chuck.

you're never going to play that song correctly.

You can play it with a pick and like flat pick and double, you know, sort of double thumb with a pick.

Yeah.

Everybody Dance will always be a song which most bass players will struggle to get exactly right because the technique is so specific to Bernard.

There's guys on YouTube who nail it.

Guys know who I've uprooted before, but played it with fingers and played with some, some of two fingers, which is something I do.

When I plugged in, I would automatically play a chic song.

I would automatically play either Feet Keep Dancing or Everybody Dance without thinking about it.

And I was so terrified.

And I just did it.
