G

And if I were in your position looking to somebody to give me advice on what's happening inside of Airtable, I'd want them to call this out loud.
G
47:51GarethSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
This Evernote fear, it's an honest fear.

A product you depend on gets acquired.

I take a lot of notes.
A
16:12Andi GladwinGUEST
I use a piece of software called Evernote, uh, which I can access on my phone or my computer.
A
16:18Andi GladwinGUEST
But just recently I've started using another thing called Whisper AI, and I know we shouldn't always be using AIs for things, but this AI is different because it doesn't make things up.
A

It just listens to your voice and it types what you say.
Neuroscience Research: 5 Ways to Superior Teaching

Something starts to get lost in that translation.

But, you know, a lot of teachers won't let kids record on, you know, Evernote or OneNote, and you can record the audio and the video and go back and look later.
V
5:46Vicki DavisHOST
But there are teachers who literally won't let kids record, and it just makes me cringe, you know, as a mom of kids who have learning differences.
J
5:53Jared Cooney HorvathGUEST
And that's when ideally you start to go, okay, well, if you're not gonna record or if there's not gonna be access to, say, slides or notes afterwards, then you have to start thinking about, cool, how are we gonna embed note-taking into the session itself? Rather than saying just take notes as we're going, is there a way to every 10 minutes say, "Sweet, now we're gonna take three minutes, do a free recall," or every 15 minutes we stop and we do group notes together, some way to embed that process into the lesson itself so you don't clash and you make it a learning tool, something that actually boosts their understanding of the material as well.
Ep. 52 - Trouble comes in threes w/ Amanda Snyder Cathey
J
5:08James ChaeHOST
There's actually, you touch on a lot of different things that I've thought about over the years, kind of specifically about myself and my identity as a designer, because you mentioned efficiency and, And it's interesting because I think a lot about like my favorite joke about myself is that like my favorite procrastination strategy is productivity software.
J
5:33James ChaeHOST
And so like, you know, when I was younger, it was Evernote, like wasting tons of hours organizing projects and planning them out.
J
5:42James ChaeHOST
But as a way to like not do the work, like not sit down and like lay out a book or presentation or like typeset something.
J
5:52James ChaeHOST
And I think, you know, it's, there's a little bit of irony that I feel like you're, you've touched upon in that like I think, you know, a lot of the history of graphic design in this country has been about, like, trying to have for designers to have a seat at the table like at the C suite or the executive level right and so.
How AI Agents Can Model Your Business Before It Breaks (w/ Rich Welsh)

It's one of my favorite tools, and Bending Spoons is an Italian company actually that buys legacy software and basically strips it to the bone and, and destroys it.

M
33:47Matt LevenhagenHOST
I used to, so I used to, I've always kind of done this.
M
33:50Matt LevenhagenHOST
It used to be back in the day it was Evernote.
M
33:52Matt LevenhagenHOST
I would, they had like a voice chat function where you could create voice notes and I would do that on walks and I would just, you know, now I use ChatGPT.
M
34:03Matt LevenhagenHOST
Like I just chat, with ChatGPT, with the idea, and then it might respond and stuff during the walk, but, and I might listen back to it.
Best of Habit Formation: James Clear
J
48:52James ClearGUEST
I've already tried to curate it, but what are the best ideas from that? And so now I'm trying to even pin it down even further.
J
48:58James ClearGUEST
And so I don't really save everything I'm reading or anything, but I do try to save the best bits that usually I just save it to Evernote or I make a little note of it on Google Doc that I'm working on.
J
49:08James ClearGUEST
So essentially what I'm trying to do is I'm trying to make everyone else's best ideas my baseline.
J
49:13James ClearGUEST
I'm trying to make that my starting material.

And for those that don't know, like, uh, also obsidian, the history of it, it started off as like a note taking app, uh, like a competitor to like Evernote, uh, where it just had this like simple thesis that like, what if we just had like simple markdown files so that people could manage it on their computer? Like they could own their notes.
M
22:24Michael Erickson FacchinHOST
And then in the world of AI, like AI really does love markdown files like these .md files because they're lightweight and easy to peruse.
M
22:32Michael Erickson FacchinHOST
Then you can just take all that information and then just like give it to AI to refer back to periodically.
