Evergreen High School

That's left lingering questions for some, like Fritz Kremz.

He's the father of two students at Evergreen High School.

The trail seemed to grow cold to some degree.

CPR's Ava Qian recently spoke with Kremz and others about their concerns, and she joins us now.

We know in Evergreen that the family had a gun safe.

It was left open at some point, and the kid was able to get ahold of the gun that caused such a huge tragedy, and we're really disappointed-

Sheffel, like the Evergreen High School parents I talked with, feels like the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office failed to uphold the safe storage law when it decided not to bring charges against Hawley's family.

In fact, the sheriff's office wasn't even able to bring his parents in for questioning.

I remember when the Columbine shooting happened here in Colorado, that we were aghast, as we should be.

But now it's become so commonplace on the day of Charlie Kirk's murder that there was a shooting at the Evergreen High School here in Colorado.

A number of students were injured, but it just was completely eclipsed in other stories.

It's just become so commonplace.

Today marks one year since the shooting at Evergreen High School.

On that September 10th, a student opened fire inside of the school before taking his own life.

Two other students were severely wounded, and the shooting affected hundreds of students, families, and staff, as well as the entire community of Evergreen.
