AJHOST
55:13
Wow, that's amazing.
AJHOST
55:15
It's amazing that it's sold out, because I remember when we first came across Evercade, probably like four or five years ago.
AndyHOST
55:21
Yeah, it was just as they were starting out.
AJHOST
55:24
And it was this weird little niche.
Chris RandazzoHOST
104:42
Let me see if I can find that one.
Chris RandazzoHOST
104:44
All right, so the story that I was originally going to talk about was that we got announcements of two new Evercade titles, and one of them is a James Pond collection.
Chris RandazzoHOST
104:55
That's right.
Chris RandazzoHOST
104:57
The same games that are going to be in that James Pond collection that we've been talking about coming to Modern Systems.
Chris RandazzoHOST
105:02
There's also a separate one that doesn't have the Pondverse or any of that other AI nonsense in it, but it's got James Pond Underwater Agent, James Pond 2 Codename Robocop, James Pond 3 Operation Starfish, and the Aquatic Games.
Chris RandazzoHOST
105:15
All four of those are on one glorious Evercade cartridge.
Dan RyanHOST
105:19
I take back everything nice I've said about the Evercade.
Chris RandazzoHOST
105:26
They also announced a ninja collection.
Z-MoneyHOST
22:32
We appreciate everything you've done for us, and we will continue to repay the favors, my friend.
Papa JHOST
22:38
I got my analog Evercade controller ordered thanks to a heads up from my boy.
Papa JHOST
22:45
I don't
BulkPANELIST
22:47
have an Evercade.
Papa JHOST
22:49
He should get one.
Papa JHOST
22:50
Dude, it's
BulkPANELIST
23:09
I want to switch, too, so bad.
Z-MoneyHOST
23:10
Well, now you got to decide.
Justin BakerHOST
34:48
Um, the Saturn port was, uh, then itself ported to modern consoles in 2023 via the Batsugan Saturn Tribute Boosted port, uh, that was done by City Connection.
Justin BakerHOST
34:58
It is included in the Toaplan Arcade Collection 3 on Evercade, as well as in the Toaplan Arcade Collection Volume 1, currently on all modern platforms.
Chris SaturnHOST
35:07
It's still so weird to see City Connection as a company.
Chris SaturnHOST
35:11
It is strange.
Chris SaturnHOST
36:22
So I didn't get around to playing it until then, and even then I briefly messed around with it on the emulator, and then you brought over your copy of the modern enhanced version of the Saturn version, right? Mm-hmm.
Chris SaturnHOST
36:37
So we were playing that the other day.
Justin BakerHOST
36:39
Yep, and we also played the special version on Evercade.
Justin BakerHOST
36:44
Oh, that's right, yeah.
Henning LudvigsenGUEST
39:07
It's kind of chill.
Henning LudvigsenGUEST
39:08
We also hear from people who bought the game on Evercade.
Henning LudvigsenGUEST
39:11
They come back from a stressful day of work and they have to wind down and get their mind at ease playing a few turns of Roguecraft.
JohnnyHOST
39:20
Oh, nice.

13 MINS LATER

JohnnyHOST
52:21
Yeah, that is exciting.
JohnnyHOST
52:23
And I'm excited to follow along myself.
JohnnyHOST
52:28
Ricky, you mentioned in your early game experiences getting this cassette with 30 games on it and playing through all of them and having that be kind of your... childhood thing when you were introduced to games and I hear that a lot from folks particularly who grew up in like the 80s and 90s and relating to the importance of like physical media and having that limitation as far as like I have you know these games and these are what I have to play and I'll explore them inside and out and I was wondering for both of you but we can start with Ricky like what What is the importance of physical media to you, whether when it comes to games or other things you enjoy? Is this aspect of developing on four retro systems? And I know that you all have released for a number of different systems, including Evercade, which you mentioned, and Game Boy Color and Mega65.
JohnnyHOST
53:28
um and a lot of these different ones that are kind of like offshoots of where you both started like what is the importance of physical media in games for you

good evening it is just gone nine o'clock it is monday it is time for the total evercade podcast and good grief do we have a lot to be nattering about this evening so uh yeah let's go around let's introduce the panel let's see who's in the chatty chat and uh let's get cracking so we have got blunars
BlunnersHOST
3:33
Hello, everyone.
BlunnersHOST
3:34
I've done my usual.

26 MINS LATER

AndyPANELIST
29:43
And that's a classic.
AndyPANELIST
29:45
I mean, those games are amazing, particularly IK+.
AndyPANELIST
29:51
is a is an absolutely brilliant game so i couldn't be happier and i know i've seen a few videos of particularly evercade fans in the us who may not have any nostalgia for these games at all what i'd say is give them a chance because these two collections are fantastic um I would say that potentially the box art on James Pond doesn't really sell it that well.
AndyPANELIST
30:19
If it was me, I would have included the Robocod box art rather than the James Pond 3 box art.
Pete DonaldsonGUEST
52:26
I think if you're nodding in terms of fabrication process, you're just kind of like, right, okay, well... you know they they recreated a cartridge that uh you know worked in in the 19 you know 70s and 80s so like i understand that that that's a big job it's not like just putting a freaking sd card in it whatever um but but it's you know it's it's doing a proper new circuit board for it and stuff But 33 could for a cartridge.
Pete DonaldsonGUEST
52:49
I just get the sense that these things are sort of coming back purely because of Evercade.
Pete DonaldsonGUEST
52:54
Like Evercade have just kind of the whole cartridge sort of based world of kind of one of the few success stories in games, isn't it, really? Yeah.
Pete DonaldsonGUEST
53:04
and like
Chris ScullionHOST
53:05
admittedly whenever kid was first announced i was like i don't know if this will last this feels like a very niche thing um but yeah they've they've won a lot of people over they've won me over certainly and i i love what they do they just the curation and yeah and the whole like you
Justin BakerHOST
2:10
Anyway, my week.
Justin BakerHOST
2:12
I'm still playing a bunch of Evercade stuff.
Justin BakerHOST
2:13
I think I talked about it at length last episode.
Justin BakerHOST
2:15
And you
Justin BakerHOST
3:26
Anyway, I'm kind of playing catch up on it.
Justin BakerHOST
3:31
I've decided it's a thing I want to have and collect for, so I've sort of been batch ordering the stuff that's available that I want to have.
Chris SaturnHOST
3:37
Before you get too far into Evercade, I do want to mention, because you brought it over to my house and we played it for a little while.
Chris SaturnHOST
3:43
Justin, what controller finally worked as a second player controller out of all the controllers we tested?
TimHOST
28:14
quid.
BlunnersHOST
28:16
So I'm on the train on the way back from the Evercade event where the signal in London is horrendous.
BlunnersHOST
28:23
And little did I know that it had already been announced and pretty much everyone had fucking bought it.
BlunnersHOST
28:29
It had already gone live and everyone had bought it.
BlunnersHOST
31:09
There is one thing I want to talk about.
BlunnersHOST
31:10
Yeah, and that was Metal Slug.
BlunnersHOST
31:13
Obviously, we're getting these on every single Neo Geo collection we're getting on the Evercade at the minute.
BlunnersHOST
31:20
and they are bringing this over an actual ultimate collection.
CallumHOST
24:35
In 2022, it came to the Nintendo Switch Online.
CallumHOST
24:38
And finally, a new port of it was released for the Evercade line in June 2026.
CallumHOST
24:44
I don't know if anyone has seen the Evercade version of it, but it looks like the worst way to play it.
CallumHOST
24:50
Honestly, I was looking at it.
CallumHOST
24:52
I wasn't going to buy it.
