Eve Ewing

And then, then the book comes out, and you do not know how it's gonna be received.

Um, and so the wonderful Eve L. Ewing, uh, a friend of mine, she always says to, you know, before the book is released, sit with yourself and ask, "What would it mean for this book to be a success to me? Whose hands should it find it in?" And to me- Number one was I wanted to record my family's part in American history.

I had never known...

I grew up in Philadelphia, revolutionary-era city, and I did not think my ancestors extended back there.

So, yeah.

Oh, and Eve, Dr. Eve L. Ewing, um...

As a co-writer in Evan REC, I'm not sure what the partnership is, but I don't know.

It's been pretty great.

But there's been some really strong standouts.

Eve Ewing's Exceptional X-Men and Gail Simone's Uncanny X-Men, as well as Jed McKay's book, have all given us new characters.

new problems i think people are frustrated because some storylines are playing out for a really long time but you know gail gail has a lot of strengths as a writer if we're talking about uncanny x-men volume 6 which has been running for about 25 issues at this point She's very loyal to her characters.

She gives a lot of really quippy and fun dialogue.

All right.

Bow to Superior Power in X-Men United number nine by Eve Ewing and Evan Narcisse.

As Emma Frost is used to being the top of the pyramid.

But when someone arrives whose power is to be the better of any mutant she encounters, well, that simply can't be allowed.

All right, our first comic, X-Men United number six.

Writer, Eve Ewing, and Evan...

We'll just say Evan.

I don't want to butcher their last name.

it the cover said it emma just didn't read the cover

yeah that's what i'm so confused

about what's covered i i can't hate on eve ewing too much for that like it's weird that we still haven't revealed this villain after two comics but why did somebody put shadow king on the cover if we're not supposed to know that

Because then it does ruin the entire idea of, like, the viewer, you know, the reader should not know more than those characters unless there's a dread of, like, oh, no, they don't see it coming.

Avery R.

Young, Chicago's original poet laureate, Maida Del Valle, Dr. Eve Ewing, Natalie Moore.

Like it's going to be so many amazing Chicagoans out there, including for our listeners, one of your favorites.

Yeah, boy.

I encourage you to check it out.

I was actually going to shout out another comic writer, but not one of her comic books, Eve Ewing's most recent book.

Oh, yeah, yeah.

Original Sins is about the miseducation of Black and Native children and the construction of American racism.
